I have grinded 14 levels Gladiator and never have any Coblyn or Marmot dropped a "Fire Crystal". They have dropped copious amounts of "Fire Shards". I think people are mixing up shards and crystals in the comments.

Insect/Bug mobs and some Leves only at this point.

Copper Coblyns drop these, south of Uldah surroundings

So far, all the Marmots drop Fire Crystals.
Yes, CRYSTALS... Shards too, but Crystals every so often.

Seems to be any type of insect/bug will drop these.
