Shark Oil

Originally I thought this synth was useless. It's only useable in two synths, one for a high level off hand item and another that was primarily for rrpair materials.

I had a ton of Hammerhead Sharks from leveling fishing, and my alchemy was only getting about 230 per synth for the water crystals. Doing Shark Oil (r35) seemed to be the way to go to get to level 35+ and start doing level 41 fishies. I went to sell the stack of 12 to an NPC to see if it was worth a damn. Lo and behold, these give 4.1k for a stack. Hammerheads sell cheap on my server, so these are a potentially great way to make money while leveling your alchemy. I estimate that from R31 @~404SP, itll take you about 630 sucessful synthesises to get rank 35. That makes over 2.5M gil for selling to NPC.

I'd highly suggest using shark oil to rank up as long as it sells for 345g a piece to NPC.
