Welcome to Eorzea and you are on your way to Ul'dah, a city rich with recreation, most notably the fighting arenas and gambling halls. You will enter the city riding a wagon run by chocobos and suddenly, you'll hear misterious voice.

Follow instructions below:

After Patch 1.19 a new addition was made, a new cut scene has been created with Warburton and his daughter Ascilia. Follow the instructions carefully and select either gamepad or keyboard controls. Talk to NPCs that has the exclamation icons and proceed with the game.

• Make your way towards the center of the city. When you see a guy named Big-bellied Barker, turn right for an instance. You will see the flower festival where you will meet recurring characters along the game. Suddenly, a monster escaped and you must fight it.

• After the cutscene, defeat the Escaped Goobbue and then you will view another cutscene.

• After the battle, talk to Yayatoki. After Patch 1.19, there won't be any selections any more as you just have to talk him then you have to go manually to the Quicksand.

• After the dialogue, you will enter an instance. Talk to Momodi and select Court in the Sands to start the next quest.

Notes

• During battle, follow instructions showing on the screen. It is very easy to learn and comprehend. After Patch 1.19, changes has been made and Thancred and Niellefresne are both giving you directions now and even attacking the monster more compaired before.
• If you're class is of Disciple of Hand and of Disciple of Land, you don't need to kill the monster but let Thancred and Niellefresne do it for you.
• You will receive your first Quest Item namely the Velodyna Cosmos. Quest Items cannot be used and it serves as Key Items like on a regular Final Fantasy game.

Journal Entries

A mysterious, dreamlike voice recalls you from your reverie. Your senses about you, you find that you arrived in Ul'dah. Now you need only speak to whomever you meet, and seek out adventure wherever it lies.

A grand procession is passing on Ul'dah's main road, and all are enjoying the festivities. But an enormous goobbue under control of a conjurer breaks loose and wrecks havoc on the town and its people. Together with Niellefresne and Thancred, subdue the beast and save the innocent bystanders.

You managed to subdue the raging goobbue, and the townspeople returned to enjoying themselves at the festivities in the wake of the excitement. Speak to others around you to discover how an adventurer might go getting her bearings in this city.
