After reaching Rank 20 Pugilist, speak to Gagaruna to start this quest. You must have reached a certain point in Fade to White in order to get the quest.

Journal Entries

Gagaruna of the Pugilists' Guild has imparted to you some of what goes on behind the scenes at the Platinum Mirage. She contends that the world of man is comprised entirely of power, love, and money, and the Platinum Mirage relegates its concerns entirely to the last of those three. To learn more of the guild's ways, speak with your first instructor, Titinin.

Titinin has given you your first task─collecting loan payments. You have been given a list of several of the Mirage's debtors whose payment deadlines are drawing near. Visit them in turn and see to it that they pay what is owed. Head first to Eshtaime's Lapidaries to find Esperaunce, the so-called King of Plots.

You locate the King of Plots, Esperaunce, at Eshtaime's Lapidaries, but find that he barely sees fit to recognize you exist. The loan payment is scattered about the shop floor in fallen coins, which he leaves for you to pick up. Swallow your pride and collect whatever gil you can find.

Titinin has instructed you to search for the Wise Miser in the vicinity of the Quicksand.

The Lady Lewena, it so happens, is lady wife to a prosperous merchant and trader, and spends near all of her time at the Platinum Mirage seeking thrills. So much so, in fact, that she has come to be known as the Muse of the Mirage. Titinin informs you that you will likely find her on the premises. Perhaps you should begin your search by the main entrance...

You have been pitted against a veteran of the Coliseum. Put on a good show and claim victory to ensure that Lady Lewena makes good on her debt.

You have triumphed on the bloodsands of the Coliseum, and titillated Lady Lewena in the process. Take her payment and return to the Platinum Mirage to speak to Titinin.

Quote:
Gagaruna: Welcome, friend, to the Platinum Mirage, where the sands turn to gil! But do not be deceived─we are no mere gambling arena. We are the very driving force behind Ul'dah's economy.
Gagaruna: We amass gil, to be sure, but we also lend it. It is our duty to see that the city maintains a healthy flow of gil.
Gagaruna: Of course, such dealings as ours carry inherent risks, and we are always looking for able-bodied adventurers to serve in our guard. What do you say?
Gagaruna: A wise investment in your future, adventurer. Now for your first lesson, though it may be one you have learned already. The world of Eorzeans has but three essential constituents─love, power, and money.
Gagaruna: If you are well loved, power and money will come. If you wield power, you can take both love and money. And if you have money, you can buy either love or power. Yet lack for any, and you shall never rise high.
Gagaruna: The city's guilds were founded upon these tenets. Eshtaime's Lapidaries and Frondale's Phrontistery devote themselves to the mysteries of love. The Coliseum and Amajina & Sons Mineral Concern, meanwhile, are dedicated to the honing of power and might. And as for the mastery of coin and wealth, none are more accomplished than the Order at Arrzaneth Ossuary, or we of the Platinum Mirage.
Gagaruna: Yes, you can learn much and more of money by studying here. In time, you will come to learn that money is everything. Shall we begin, then?
Gagaruna: Time is money, and you seem keen not to waste any. That is good. Go and speak to Titinin within. He will guide you.

After picking up the coins talk to Esperaunce again for another cutscene. The you journal will be updated. If you leave instance early, go back in and them turn around and try to exit, this will put you back in the instance.
