Would seem since an update some of the past info is wrong.
As a reward you now get:
1 x Iron Short sword
20,000 Gil
You don't get any GLD Marks. And i don't see anywhere where you would buy Self-Preservation as Hurorin mentioned so I'm assuming that is outdated as well and you do not get this ability. (At least not being able to buy it after finishing the quest)

Journal EntriesLulutsu of the Coliseum has delivered a riveting account of the excitement and thrill of the gladiatorial games held on the bloodsands. The selections for the upcoming tourney are already underway, and your aid has been requested in weeding out the weak from the lists. Prepare yourself for battle and head for the Coliseum. Arriving at the Coliseum, you find your challenger waiting. Finish him!You have bested your first opponent on the bloodsands in true gladiatorial fashion. Return to Lulutsu and report the deed done.
