Talk to Beli

"Oh dear, whatever shall I─hm? Oh, hello there. What's wrong, you ask? Well...a patron has left a hide in my care. He claims he found it buried amongst the oddments in his attic, and believes it to be that of a sicksa. Anyway, he has asked me to verify whether or not it is the genuine article. Do you not know of the sicksa? It is a legendary beast often spoken of in Gridanian folktales. I was fascinated with them as a child. I used to stare at drawings of them in books, and would spend whole days scouring the forest for the merest sign of one. Ahem, the point being that if this is a sicksa fur, it would be a truly historic discovery." "But sadly, this fur looks like nothing more than that of a bristletail marmot to me. Still, to be sure, I'd like to compare it with some other specimens. Would you care to help me, adventurer? If memory serves, a number of bristletail marmots live to the west of Camp Emerald Moss. I would be very grateful if you could bring me, say, eight silky-smooth marmot hides."

"It is a bother, I know, but comparing this hide against some silky-smooth marmot hides seems to me the most convincing way to prove that it is genuine...or, more likely, that it isn't. Either way, I can assure you that your labors will not go unrewarded."

Head to Camp Emerald Moss

Head north-west of Gridania to Camp Emerald Moss. From there head west down the road the up the ramp to the higher level of the forest and go north til you see some Bristletail Marmots

Talk to Beli

Return to the Atelier Fen-Yll and speak with Beli for the reward

"The silky-smooth marmot hides! You've brought them! I read up on the sicksa while you were away. It seems there is one distinctive difference between the hide of the legendary beast and the bristletail marmot. Come, let us see what we have."

"It's...real? Gods be good, it's real! Do you know what this means!? The sicksa! The sicksa is real! We must tell─ Oh dear, no... Think of it. If Eorzea were to come to know of its existence, surely it would be hunted to extinction. The Leatherworkers' Guild would be in a frenzy to fashion some new shoe or armor out of its hide. But it has existed peacefully alongside us for all these years without once intruding on our daily lives... We must protect its secret! My friend, please, forget all that you have heard here. Forget the sicksa. It is safer that it exist as a legend in the minds of men. So long as you and I do not speak of what we've learned here this day, the sicksa can continue to live as it has─as the Twelve intended. I will tell my patron that he has naught but a cheap replica on his hands. Swear to me you will not tell a soul. Take this, and swear it!"

You obtain a sheepskin subligar (brown).

Note the name "Bristletail", they only spawn around the ??? area marked on the map in your journal. You will have to wait for respawns to gather enough to complete the quests. Killing the surrounding "Thistletail" will not give you the the required quest item.

Beli: You think this could not possibly be a sicksa hide, am I right? I suppose I agree with you... Perhaps that is what I should tell my patron.
