Not for me when people are allowed to use exp potions, seen someone six box group of mages and met someone who was already level 30. I give it a week people will be max level, then why are there AA then figure after a month or two the hype will die down. Enjoy them that want to play on it, I will just continue on the regular servers. Then seen a couple new people who had no clue they said no tutorial people said if you want that then you need to play on reg servers yet there is station store and aa kind of a contradiction.

SOE was never able to make a legitimate classic server, no reason to assume the new bosses would have. Which is why it's always called a "progression" server instead of a classic server. You always wind up with the drop tables changed from years past, AA, trade skills changed, etc. Station store is how they make money off the free-to-play options so obviously they're going to keep it. Likewise, some of the classic stuff was terrible like being forced to stare at your book to meditate or hybrid xp penalties. If you want to feel like it's actually 1999-2001 then you need to find an emulated server or a time machine.

Even if you could have a server playing by the old rules, the knowledge genie is out of the bottle. People know the best xp or loot spots and how to apply basic principles like aggro and damage ratios. We have detailed information about what spells do versus the old days of people wondering what the heck Taper Enchantment does. Some people have always tried to swiftly grind through the levels (and there's always been people multi-boxing), we're just better at it now. You can't go home again.

And isn't that the story of life summed up in a short sentence! It will never, ever be the experience you had your first week. A friend got me to play in 2001. I created a High Elf Paladin and he ported me to West Commonlands, showed me to East Commonlands and told me to level up there as the "Bazaar" of the time was the East Commonlands tunnel and I would be able to purchase gear. I had no plat, so how could I purchase gear. I died after running over a hill straight into an Orc camp and was "Ranger ported" back to GFay and had no clue as to how to get back to my corpse. Those were the "real" days, lol.

I do daily 99% no thank been there done that or I want good gear not crap gear. So I just play by myself and have fun. Empty zones no one to train you, kill steal your mob, be a loot hog and causing stress and cussing like a sailor so it does have its perks and benefits of solo play.

I find it hard to believe that there's no "old ways" guilds on the new progression server Smiley: dubious

No boxing, no marketplace, etc.

I made a Felicite on Ragefire - I'm not sure if I'll stick with it or not.

Definately. Yet, lots of people think they can relive that 'first time in an MMO ever' feeling.

Odd feeling being in Gfay, and finding a 'weak' skeleton stomping my 1st level druid. Looks like I have to do some of the guildmaster given tasks up in the trees.

It's just so... different. When I first started EQ back in 2005, most of my friends had played for a few years and were raiding and close to max levels (this is DoN era). Newbie zones dead, but I could spend hours in a Hot Zone trying to xp or find a low level grinding group... but people don't seem to be as concerned about LFG now, because 1) there are just boxers everywhere, 2) they know what to do already with their characters, so there isn't as much of a need to experiment with your spells/abilities. Everythings been done before and everyone knows that.

This is the first time I've ever tried a progression server though, so we'll see if I like it.

There aren't any new bosses. DayBreak is run by Smed, just like SOE was run by Smed. They are just not part of Sony anymore but part of a different company.

Well, so much more the reason then to not be surprised when this progression server is no more "classic" than the previous progression servers.

I find it sad... the first main problem is the Progression server vote was only for those who were playing in game. People who no longer play but would.. did not get a vote. They should have had a vote on website.. with links in game for people to go to vote and on Facebook/Twitter so that players who no loner play can voice what they want. Next they allowed Mages to keep their super powered pets.. this has made the game so impossible for everyone else... you have large groups of Mage bots being controlled by people Botting their little armies running all over the place taking out camps. Other day in Lower Guk.. A guy running 18 man box group of mages.. claimed all of Live side. So this is a major flaw. There are 20 mages for every 1 class. This is ridiculous and the raid and boss mobs are already being farmed. People in small guilds.. will never get their epics.. because of this.. they are not going to get the gear they need.. because these farmers are selling all their loot for Kronos... which they in turn are selling on websites for real cash. Its become a nightmare. They failed!! again.

Ed Zachary.

The big problem is that all the servers run off the same data, so they couldn't, for example, change the H2H back to the way it was or make the mage pets weaker, or put spells back to the old levelling scheme (where you didn't get a spell every level) but that would a) take a tremendous amount of work and b) impact all the other servers in the process.
