There is a thread on the EQ forums with this title but I'm not that impressed with the posts so figured I'd start one here.

I'll start!

I know I at least I WAS addicted to EQ when one time I entered a large indoor shopping mall from a corner entrance and SERIOUSLY considered for a second hitting my TRACKING hot button to find my way to a person I was scheduled to meet but wasn't sure where.

This actually gave me a chill and I shook my head like cartoon characters do when they see something incredible!

Smiley: lol I have had a similar experience but it was not trying to meet up with someone. I noticed someone I wanted to avoid and silently wished I could cast invis.

Well, as you know, the real question is whether you already had aggro'd this person. ROFLMAO

I'll have to think about it for myself, but my friend that got me started on EQ fell asleep at some class in college. When he woke up, the first thing he saw where the letters SG on the board up front. He startled awake and said, out loud, "sand giant to docks." I laughed so hard, still do when I think about it.

I remember once, many years ago, actually thinking "I need to use sense heading to get my bearings", when I was driving somewhere and got a bit lost. Of course, now I have a car with a compass heading thingie on the rear view mirror, so it's like real life mirroring changes in the game.

It's the EQ dreams... especially the ones where you craft elaborate expansions.

That, and saying "nerf" in regular conversation and next to no one knowing what you mean.

I thought of using my necro Feign Death one day when my girl was yelling at me about leaving the seat up or some crap.

Wow, can't say I've ever had a dream like that. I have had those kind of dreams, generally speaking, where within the dream you've come up with the greatest novel ever, or a great movie script, or even a great computer program but of course when you wake up even if you remember any small piece of it, you realize it wasn't anything all that great. Just seemed that way in the dream state.

~ I knew I was addicted to Everquest when:

1) Upon reading of an announcement of an incoming double XP weekend, I would immediately seek to weasel my way out of any non EQ plans for the weekend.

2) Despite leaving the game after 10 years playing...I get flashbacks/thoughts of the game every day and still visit EQ related sites (such as now).

3) My EQ subscription outlasted my longest real life relationship.

Yep, I'm still addicted to EQ.

I haven't raided Vex Thal in 10 years at least but it used to be a regular thing every Saturday afternoon. In the late morning I used to go to the supermarket and I always bought cold cuts from the deli to make easy-to-eat sandwiches so I could eat lunch and dinner without interrupting the raid. Well, it's at least 10 years later and I still go to the same market and I still buy cold cuts at the same deli counter but wouldn't you know when I do I still check my watch nervously to make sure I'm on schedule to make the 1pm raid start time.

Smiley: yikes

Well having played since January of 2000 I have to admit that on more than one occasion I have been out shopping for clothes and caught myself checking the tags for stats. And don't feel bad on the checking your watch for how long for raid start Pippin. I haven't raided in over eight years and still check my watch as well. And to be honest even after all these years of being a part of the game I wouldn't want it any different! Some of the best friends I have met were from EQ over the years.

I know I am addicted when I forgo any sustenance for hours on end after waking up, simply to play EQ.

I realize my back is sore because somehow I have managed to not move for 4 hours.. When I finally do move the dogs have forgotten i was even there.

Seriously though, I was on a hike the other day and asked my wife for a SoE. She looked like she wanted to throw me off the cliff.

A guy bumped into the back of my cycle with his rice grinder awhile back, while my son and I were on our bikes, sitting at a stop light.
As I put the stand down and shut off the motor, he came exploding out the door of his car and his feet got tangled up, which resulted in him going to the ground and he knocked the wind out of his self.

As I was swinging my leg over the seat to dismount, my son laughed and from his bike said
"hey Dad, did you cast a snare on him?"

I didn't want to laugh, the guy looked slightly hurt...but I will admit...I did have the immediate desire to "loot" him ;-)

Not addicted.
