Playing Everquest on a solid state driveFollow

Pardon if already been asked but does playing eq on ssd help with load times or using multiple windows 2 or 3 on one computer.

It really depends on what hardware you had previously. If you had a slow HDD like a 5200 rpm drive with a low transfer rate then a SSD will give you quite a bit of a performance boost.

I've done it and noted no difference. However my regular drives are pretty fast anyway. In theory running on an SSD "should" at least speed up noticeably the initial loading of the program and zoning but like I said I didn't really see a difference. There must be other variables involved, such as your Internet speed. I'm on a gig-speed FIOS connection so if the disk access speed made a difference I should have noticed it.

That's MY experience at least. For me what's annoying slow is the initial log-in. Zoning is OK.

In my experience, memory makes the biggest difference in load/zoning times. Adding memory always made a noticeable difference. I'm sure there is a point of diminishing returns though.

Dont recall on loading zones, but loading the game, like the first couple windows like server select, etc are really really really fast compared to normal hdd.
