Just wanted to do a bit of open speculation about the FFXIV party system. From the alpha leak videos it is apparent that the difficulty of the quests is based on the number of members in your party. The difficulty level ranges from 1 star at a solo level and 5 stars at a 5 man party. So if quest difficulty is based on the number of members in your party, I wonder if mob difficulty in general could be based on the same thing? This would certainly make the game more solo or duo friendly for those who don't have time to sit around and find the perfect party.
Personally, I think such a system would be a welcome addition to FFXIV. My days of being able to sit around and wait hours for a party have unfortunately passed me by. If there is such a system in FFXIV, then I still think that there should be some additional benefit (experiential or otherwise) for leveling in a max size party. This would still encourage the type of cooperative play that made FFXI so enjoyable, but it would not alienate more casual players. What do you all think?
