Anyone able to get their 10 days thingie activated yet?

Yeah, I'm noticing some shouts, but no one actually talking, and personal preference, I like to see people ACTUALLY talking in an MMO. I do see some modest tweaks and most things do seem marginally peppier, which is nice, but I know no one's gonna bring us interlopers back into shells for 10 days so it'll be 10 days of grinding leves.

Can't tell if serious. You're going to use your 10 day pass grinding leves? Actually nevermind. I was going to leave a long list of things you should rather be doing, but I honestly can't think of anything since you're not capped. I'm not even sure there is much of a point to rejoining for 10 days. You'll be able to grind high enough to participate in something new the day before you get kicked again lol

I can think of a ton of things to do, but none of them relate to XIV...

WB campaign needed to be a month long. I get the feeling that the majority of people left the game in a position similar to yours and will be welcomed back to nothing but slightly lower wait times on their leves and a few extra NPCs who will rub in the fact that they aren't high enough to really participate in anything they would want to try =/

I guess I can grin and bear it for two levels and try that 20-22 content.

The initial part of the Grand Companies is really not that fun (unless it's changed). I had done up to acquiring the Chocobo's and it's essentially the same missions for each nation with a different backdrop. The worst part is it can take a few hours to get all of this done and do the same run here, fight this guy, go back to starting point 3 times.

Nothing has changed. I did this quest for two weeks ago and had to do the beginning quests for all nations.

Gets better, but yes you need to enlist first.

Spoiler The last fight so far has you going in a boss fight against a magitek machine. It's a level 50 fight and not soloable.

But you likely won't get that far in 10 days. To be fair though, the starter missions of any storyline won't have you do anything stand-out, you're not even a Private Third Class.

Chatting occurs, just not in shout and public channels. Linkshells are as chatty as ever from my observations. Shout-chats, not so much, but honestly I don't mind that all that much. As far as chatterboxing in XP parties - you should not have enough time to do that if your party is going well. Partying is pretty frantic/fast paced.

Things you might want to get your fingers around in the 10 days you are here.

Job system: Unlock a job, get your first ability, understand the differences between playing a job and playing a class.
Combo System: They revamped TP and you'll get a good first taste at combos at 30 no problem. And it shouldn't take you 10 days to reach level 30 just with Leves.
Crafting Revamps: They're not completely done yet, but they've been some changes there as well. Changing the system to turn based will keep you from busting if you have to afk quick, so keep that in mind.
Market Wards: The revamps to allow each person to browse each city from any city is nice take a look and see if it helps make the day to day pass better for ya.
Leveling Pacing: Doing Leves with Rested Exp makes leveling fairly easy to do solo no matter what the job/class now.

Sad that you're on Gungnir, I'd play with ya if you were on Excalibur.

Anyways, those are just some things to take a look at while you're in. I think the Welcome Back Campaign should have come with a specific event for the people returning, but awell. Honestly this probably would have been better timed at the releace of 2.0.
