but when i ran it with the crossfire off i get 5596.
does ARR still not use crossfire, or is something else up?

- AMD CrossFireX and Nvidia SLI are not supported at this time.
We are currently working with the manufacturers to add support for these features by the launch of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Plain as day on the Benchmark website. http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/ Plus, the benchmark is run in windowed mode with no access to fullscreen.

heh your right it is a window, dang i really wasn't thinking there. oh well it's nice to know they are trying to make it happen, because i bought a second card to run this game when it came out lol. i was dissapointed that i bought it for nothing. but this is good news. also runs extremely smooth as compared to 1.0 even if im using only 1 card.

The 7670 is about 20% worse than my 550ti and your score seems to bear that out. It basically a rebranded 6670.

Try updating your video drivers though I think they might be out of date. So that may give you a few more points.

The driver is up-to-date, and the computer is less than a month old. :<

I got an extra thousand points turning off "Improve Overal Graphical Quality" without a big change to what the benchmark looked like. Bumped me up to 5349 on 1920 x 1080 with Max settings.

I ran it on their default setup just to see:

Amazingly enough, by putting it on the lowest settings, it looks like most other games to me.

p.s. went from 5100 to 5900 on max settings by lowering the quality of the shadows, and making them environmental only.

That's one thing Yoshi-P said that I wrote in my piece, they're dedicated to making the game always at the top of the MMO market graphically. This implies that they will be updating the graphics as new hardware can handle it, so it should always be gorgeous. What impresses me is how good it looks even at lower settings.

I just did the same thing on mine and got the same boost (5689). Sad part is I restarted and OC'd the cpu from 3.33 ghz to 4.2ghz and I actually dropped 1000 points... the cpu went from ~55 on air cooling to around ~72

This leads me to believe that my cpu will not have to be upgraded for a couple of more years (since it has no effect) and I can focus on the GPU. I just wish there was something more substantial above mine but I got in on that intel retail edge and picked up the i7 960 for 90$, I can only get a 980x cpu as an upgrade which still is ~1100.

oh well lol; maybe around summertime next year I can decide. I want to be able to support a longer upgrade path but unlike AMD intel likes to change the dam chipset itself rather then extend it.

For graphics cards I'll prolly stick with AMD ^^

Looks like a software/OS issue rather than hardware. While you're right that your graphics hardware is kind of weak, it isn't THAT weak.

Try running the benchmark again after a fresh reboot, and kill programs running in the background as much as you can.

For people like my brother and I who wont be using "beastmode rigs", what range of score should we settle on? I have been adjusting everything to get the highest game resolution and score a "Standard".

Is "Standard" what we should be looking to get? Should we be trying to end up with a "Slightly High" or "High" instead?

Here's a good piece that I found on how to improve your benchmark score while still maintaining fairly high settings at 1920x1080. With it, I jumped from a score of 3600 (high) to a score of 5200 (very high).

Built a new PC for $1035 about two months ago pretty much exclusively for FFXIV. Glad to see it smashes the new benchmark with ease XD. I still need to get a new monitor since mine is only 1440x900, but it's good to know that after three years of yearning I will be able to play in style :D

My 6ish year old laptop scored well under 200 on the 1.0 benchmark so sadly I couldn't be a trooper through the "extended beta" ; ;

Here's to hopes of getting into Phase 3-4 of the beta still :o

Edit: Also, other than lighting and shadow effects I'm not seeing that much difference in medium and maximum settings. The game still looks amazing at lower settings :D

Server 2012 (fresh install) / 1920x1200 / Maximum settings (no tweaks) 7316
CPU overclock / no GPU overclock other than factory. A bit of advise for anyone running Server 2012 - Set min processor speed to 50% or higher and set power plan to high performance / Processor Scheduling - Programs

Went from 4733 to 7316 which is silly, almost double score something odd is going on.
5-10% gain may be normal but 30-40% is not.
