Anyone having problems extracting the zip file without getting an error message? I got an error message that said something like unexpected end of file. The benchmark booted but as i figured my core 2 duo processor and radeon x1400 graphics card was too weak to run it.

Think if I added another GTX 280 Graphics card it would help much? This is a 6 year old gaming Dell XPS, another note I tested my wifes laptop and on medium scores a 991 insufficient. Which ran FFXIV fine on medium. I thought this was supposed to be less taxing on your system.

Alright Benchmark is looking great!

A few questions:

1 - What's the 'best' way to run the benchmark? (I.e. do you have no other programs running on a fresh reboot etc?)
2 - Does the benchmark utilise SLI (I'm guessing no since it's run in windowed mode)?
3- If no SLI - what is the likely real-world performance boost when the game launches in full-screen mode with SLI active?
4 - Based on my system, what would you say is my biggest weakness?

1: While you'll probably get a better score doing it that way, the best way to get an honest response from the benchmark is to run it the same way you'd run the game. So if you'd normally be running the game with 18 browser tabs and 5 instances of photoshop and xsplit running... do it that way.

2: No, and you nailed the reason. I'm not sure why they didn't think fullscreen mode would be a good idea, but there you go.

3: Depends if the game can take advantage of SLI or not. I'd be pretty surprised if it couldn't, but you never know. The game engine seems to lean pretty heavily on your video card so I'd expect SLI to improve its performance by quite a bit.

4: Your video card could be stronger. The 460 is good, don't get me wrong there, but if you'd got a little spare cash a 660Ti would probably give you a pretty decent boost. Also a solid state hard drive to run the game from (also your OS... if you haven't tried this, I strongly recommend it, it's really sexy) should produce a noticeable performance boost to just about everything you do.

A mid 5000s score is fine. If you can live with the game at a lower resolution, it'll obviously perform better. I know for me personally, I can't live without my 1920x1080. Lower resolution just seems wrong to me. In graphics processing, the biggest drain on power is usually shadows. If you want the higher resolution, consider turning down the shadow detail and see what happens.

I lowered my monitor's resolution to an extremely low setting (1280x720) so I can be able to score "high" while keeping it on maximum settings and still have a windowed-full screen look. The benchmark looked perfect, but everything else looks horrible outside of it, lol. I'm willing to make that sacrifice though.

My only concern is the size of my UI once the game launches - its going to fill up my entire screen *unless* we have an option to scale it down. Has anyone heard if this will be a feature in ARR? I know we are going to have options for customizing the UI, but has anyone heard whether there will be a scaling feature?

I5 2500k run at 4400
8 gig ddr 3 ram
22 inch 1680 x 1050
GTX 275

I have a score of 3,960 point

And then I upgrade to AMD 7870 myst edition
And the score onyl went up by 600-700 point.

Which is weird since 7870 myst is a lot stronger than my 4 years old gtx 275.

The 7670 is about 20% worse than my 550ti and your score seems to bear that out. It basically a rebranded 6670.

Try updating your video drivers though I think they might be out of date. So that may give you a few more points.

I remember when we use to have to upgrade our PCs every other year or so just to keep up, now my aging CPU and four-year-old computer seems just fine.

Two GTX460s SLI'd with an aging processor isn't too bad. Best part is my motherboard is capable of supporting a CPU upgrade, which I just priced a Vishera 4.0GHz 8-core on NewEgg for $199, which would be a significant upgrade.
