Ps3 exclusives don't usually suffer those issues. AAA titles like uncharted, MGS4, GOW, inFamous etc, run great. Multi-platforms however.... ps3 ports never get done correctly.

I believe that's why Yoshi was getting help directly from Sony to help with it. I hope they are successful. I'm looking forward to the ps3 trophies :D

I remember lots of angry PS3 Skyrim costumers. Just in general with issues as well as delays on the DLC. Haven't kept up with that recently though.

there's no ps3 achievments or something?

It's still on the front page even.

Not to mention it's the second story on our home page.

No, they aren't doing trophies. Sony requires that every trophy you're going to allow for the game be detailed when you submit the master disk, so the only time there would ever be any updates to trophies is if they did any expansions. Yoshi-P instead wants to implement in-game trophies and achievements.

I'd say it's irrelevant given that downvoting your posts is like an orgasmic level of catharsis.

Sorry Smiley: blush. I just read it! Aren't not? Now I'm confused! I always thought Sony required games to have trophies, so I never gave it much thought. I figured it wouldn't similar to in game achievements. That they'd be an all encompassing trophy. Such as: Complete story mode, Get all jobs to 50, Kill all NMs etc. Not like a trophy for every thing we did. That's why I don't fully understand. The new expansion will have new content and just like all dlc add ons for ps3 games, they don't come with A LOT of trophies usually 5-10 tops. So the intial ARR would have the normal 40-50 trophies and expansions would each add 5-10. Oh well, disappointment abounds Smiley: disappointed

That's what I get for posting from my smartphone Smiley: smile

I was a little surprised I guess but at the same time not really disappointed, I've never been one to chase trophies or achievements but I know there are plenty who enjoy that kind of thing. I'll be curious to see what they come up with for in game stuff.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that I don't completely disagree with Poubelle. I agree that he tends to be pretty negative, but I think a few of his gripes are pretty well warranted.

I too thought the PS3 version had an obviously lower frame rate, but I just sort of wrote it off as a hardware limitation. From what I understand, the PS3 is notorious for being difficult to develop software for, but it's mostly due to hardware architecture, rather than raw power, which it obviously has.

All things considered, it doesn't look so bad as to where it'd be considered unplayable. Maybe that's the tradeoff ps3 users will have to make; you'll give up the definitive experience in exchange for the convenience and comfort of playing on your couch.

I agree too.. I saw the video and it was bad. This thread is on every FFXIV forum I follow so it is a concern and other people saw it. Anyone knows this game is close to release at this stage once it hits beta, there is not allot of time anymore but there is some time. The disks need to be printed etc. By optimize there is not allot at this time that can be done.. The ps3 is not a new system or is it new to SE. What my concern is how much are they going to compromise the graphics to help with frame rate and tearing which is there too, part of it is the video too...

Since I already purchased a ps3 for this game I and just this game I am a little concerned.

How is at least 4-6 months out close to release? My guess is they won't submit the master disk until the PS3 beta starts in phase 3 which is several months away still. They have time, they have Sony helping, there is no reason to fear the PS3 version not making the deadline.

Again Its not so much making the dead line as it is how much are they going to compromise the ps3 version. the system is old so they know what it can do at this point.

That's the choice you make when you choose that platform. The PS2 version never looked as good as the PC version for XI.

Might be a reason to pull for the game being launched on the PS4 as well Smiley: smile

Oh I agree if you don't have a system yet. But this game has been in development on the ps3 for how long? Allot of people own the ps3 and is a huge user base...

Problem with new systems is its is allot of money to bring the software over. Big investment when you do not know how well its going to sell or even when it might launch.. PS4 may not even launch this year, there choice in AMD may hurt. SE does not have much money too gamble with...

I think they made the right choice in the ps3 at this stage.

Again though at this stage in the life of the ps3 most programming tricks are known. So optimize become how much do you compromise.

Realistically? 2 years. I'm sure they didn't throw EVERYTHING away when they started ARR but they did state they rebuilt everything from the ground up.

Just a guess but I believe they meant the pc version from the ground up. The ps3 would require a different engine completely already since it was totally different architecture.... I know they originally said the pc version, PS3 and xbox version were being developed at the same time. The xbox version was scrapped roughly about a year ago when they could not come to terms with Microsoft.

Now a Xbox version would have been assume I have 2 Xboxes for FFXI.

I think both PC and PS3 versions of the game, will be delayed a month or so, just so they can brush up on bug fixes, and system overhauls, now i am not sure what SE will do regarding the PS3-PS4 but hopefully thy will stick with the PS3 until PS4 drops in price after release.

In terms of Final Fantasy XIV, PS3 uses the same game engine that PC version does. But the game itself is optimized for PS3 hardware.

In fact, most of 1.0's faults came from shoving a console game engine (Crystal Tools) down a MMO's throat and patching it with relatively slow Lua scripts. (This was all according to a Yoshi interview, at least.)

You do realize that the price of the ps4 won't drop for quite some time after its release. I'm sure people are just happy its on the ps3.

The 'delays' are pretty well built within the beta schedule. And as there is no certain date, I doubt they'll release one until they're past ready for launch.

What I do predict, is a server crash in the beginning that may delay service.

I hope those beta testers are crashing the servers good and hard first.

Michael Squints Palledorous walked a little taller that day. And we had to tip our hats to him. He had crashed a server. And he crashed it hard and good.
