So does anyone know if the process for the official release has sped up any? I haven't really kept up with what has been going on since the end of 2012. Have the system requirements gone up any?

According so some posts Yoshi mentioned that they were about a month and a half behind their original projected plan, but Phase 1 of the Beta should be coming to a close soon as it goes into it's 4th week window.

As for the system requirements, I don't think they have changed much and if anything, they were reduced slightly. Yoshi mentioned that they worked quite a bit on streamlining the game and making it a bit more accessible to a larger range of PCs. They just recently updated their benchmark again so you could download that and try it out. There should be a link to it here by Wint. The added Full Screen support seems to be bumping up scores by a noticeable margin, not so much for me however.

Awesome, so I'm assuming the official release won't have a more demanding requirement as apposed to the previous one. Cool, I'm already downloading the benchmark. I don't mind how long it takes, just before I die would be nice.

Haha, yeah... I only have a 1.5Mbps connection and it took me about an hour for that 500mb download >.<. I just built a new gaming PC a couple months ago and it's pretty sad that I can't even stream 720p video <.<. There doesn't really seem to be much difference in the benchmark graphics settings other than lighting effects. The game still looks just as awesome on medium settings :D

yeah I just ran it on my laptop. (not that much of a gaming laptop) and it got 2000 on medium settings. So I'm guessing maybe something not TOO over the line n the new PC I plan to build for this.

If you ran 1.0, you'll blow this game away. It's impressive looking, but optimized.

I believe your laptop should be able to run it fine. I had a friend with an older laptop that played 1.0 and I believe he had a score of around 1400. My old laptop on the other hand only got a score of 200ish in the 1.0 benchmark >.<.

I only spent $1035 on my new PC without a monitor (first build ever o.o) and I get around 6500 on max settings. You can take my suggestions for building your PC if you'd like but I wouldn't go over an i5 processor. I got an i5 3570k for $220 on newegg. I did a lot of research and it seemed like games today and in the future don't really utilize the logical cores of the i7.

My video card is a Radeon HD 7870 Ghz edition and I got it for around $230. For my build's price range of $1000 it was the best bang for the buck. I think SE is optimizing this game for both brands so i don't think that nvidia is going to really outperform AMD in any significant way in this game. If you plan on cross firing two cards you should probably do it when you build or you probably never will, like my friend lol. Oh, and you won't really need more or less than 2 GB of VRAM. Some games today are starting to get held back by 1GB and 3+ tends to be for those that want to run 3+ monitors or eyefinity stuff.

I strongly suggest getting at least a 64GB SSD to put Windows 7 (PLEASE DO NOT GET WINDOWS 8 XD) and any MMO games you play a lot on. The improved load times for W7 are insane and I've read that SSDs really shine in the MMO department since they constantly retrieve data from the hard disk. I went with a 128GB SSD and no secondary HDD (yet, looking into getting one soon).

And don't skimp too much on a case. A lot of the flashy cool ones also have superior air flow. This is the case I got (it was only $120 when I bought it). There are a ton of great cases for $70-$100. Also, you don't need a huge Watt power supply unless you plan on cross firing or having a ton of drives. I have a 620W SeaSonic and it works great. The maximum consumption for my system is supposedly only around 400W. There are sites to figure this out.

I guess I'll shut up now XD. I haven't really had a chance to discuss my new rig much yet so I guess I'm jumping at the opportunity. You probably know more about building than I do so my points are probably moot. But if you'd like to know more feel free to ask, and there is a great forum thread here talking about general building stuff, although it is quite dated by technology and price standards. Post #12 by Mikhalia is by far the most important tool in that thread, as those benchmark tests for CPUs and GPUs are a great way to compare parts and price ranges. I used it exhaustively in my research, along with tomshardware forum posts google searches.

CPUs = http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
GPUs = http://videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

I'm not exactly sure where the info originated, perhaps in a video or letter from the producer. I believe I ended up watching/reading this at some point but I first read it in one of the threads here on ZAM. A few posters mentioned that Yoshi said that they were behind about six weeks from their origional development plan for ARR. I think this delay came from the general time around Alpha and preparing for Beta. The Alpha might have even ran long, I'm not entirely sure about that either.

I don't think things were quite to Yoshi's liking yet so they spent more time preparing everything. I just recently started following FFXIV again at the beginning of this year since I got my new PC. Sadly, I'm not really in the know about the progress before that. I also heard some original projections had ARR being released by now. So far the Beta seems to be on track, but we will see how that pans out in the next week or so.

Sorry I'm not more knowledgeable about the origins of this info. >.<

Edit: I guess Wint is on the ball. XD

*laugh* I shall not be one to provide this time, somebody else take up the mantle.

Anyways I'm going to go ahead and say "It'll come out when it's ready." As Blizzard likes to coin. We've no idea what sort of setbacks in the Beta Process could extend the time and Yoshida has been adamant in expressing that he wants this polished before he lets it go.

Oh definitely. I'd much prefer a highly refined game that took some time over a game they rigged up in 5 minutes and slap FFXIV over it any day. I say let them take the time they need.

I surprisingly read all that xD but thanks for the info man. I'll definitely look into building one myself.
