Ok like I've posted before I played ff14 till about a year ago. Are there any improvements on communication with the party or directly to a player? I ran around in 1.0 yelling out Toyota sucks and Honda is my b#tch to get people's attention so I could communicate with someone who spoke English. Throwing this out there because ill probably play the ps3 version and I can't stand typing with my controller! ????? Anyone???

And here I had such high hopes that the 21st century would be much more enlightened. Smiley: oyvey

As far of voice over ip from ARR, Yoshi-P already confirm that there will be none provided by the game. You can always use a thrid party software like mumble but that is it. ARR will have content finder to form random parties for content like dungeons and primals and I think it will have an improve version of 1.0's player search if you want to form a party.

Everything else I think stays the same as far of shouts.

Well, at least with the regional servers you'll be guaranteed to at least have people in the same time zone and probably the same language.

That's good but it still falls short playing on the ps3. I hope it'll be easy to pick up. God I hope to get in the beta theirs a lot I need to go threw on the ps3 version to see how it holds up.

Pro Tip. Buy a USB keyboard for $10-$30 and problem solved. You probably shouldn't bother with this game if you're on PS3 and don't have one.
#8REDACTED, Posted: Mar 21 2013 at 3:23 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think that's more an issue with the community than with the game's communication features

I will also be playing on PS3. I just learned that you can get an app for your smart phone and use it for programs like Mumble and Vent. So once you get going, that may be an option too :)

I'm surprised that you couldn't find "Toyota sucks" and "Honda is my *****" in the auto translate function. Weird. >.>

The mumble app isn't terrible, but it needs some work unfortunately. Which sucks because Mumble >>>>>> Ventrilo.

They seriously need to fix mumble in many aspects. I find it though really stable since it can hold with easy more than 250 members in a single room at the same time and i had no crash with it.

Ventrilo..i stopped using it years ago. Right now the program that has the biggest use as far as i see is Teamspeak. Its not the best though it has issues but still its better than ventrilo if you ask me.

We run mumble on my Rasberry PI, one night we held a stress test and we had 25 people on with no issues at all. It's pretty amazing.

An idea: As part of your grand content redesign, give us a tutorial on setting up such a thing. I know what a Raspberry Pi is, and I know it's cheap as heck, but I wouldn't have a clue on how to set it up with Mumble.

I would be willing to write up a wiki article for it, sure. In fact I'm creating a second SD card for it to test some other things, I'll document my steps and put it out there for everyone.

As an aside, one of my suggestions to management for premium perks is a VOIP server for that users with a certain limit on users. I know they're looking into it, so it could be a premium subscription perk coming at some point in the future Smiley: thumbsup
