Multiple Machines, Multiple Characters, one account.Follow

#1 Apr 18 2013 at 9:35 AM Rating: Default
Is it possible to have one copy of the PC game installed on two machines (i.e. desktop and laptop) and have them both running the game at the same time with two different characters tied to the same Square Enix account?

Any help answering this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Unless this has changed from FFXI or 1.0 (which I doubt), it will not be possible.

Nope, you'll have to pay them twice the money to have two characters logged in simultaneously (e.g. have two accounts.)

That actually may be a more economical option - have two basic one character accounts for $10 each to dual box, than to have one $15 multi-character account.

Ok so i would have to purchase another copy of the game and create a new account to go along with it as well as the full subscription fee and such, correct?

That is correct. Just make sure they're set up on the same server.

Now, you can have infinite copies of the PC game installed on infinite PC systems. I have FFXI installed on four different computers. But I can only be logged into one of them at a time with my one XI account.

Thanks for your help in this. It is not the answer i was hoping for but its better than not knowing. I'm trying to talk my wife into playing when 2.0 releases and i already have a copy of 1.0. I was just hoping i could get her set up on the cheap. Guess not.

Thanks again. You have been great.

Well you'd only have to buy one more copy of the game, I believe it's $40 isn't it? I'm doing the same thing with my wife.

I'm not sure that she is going to like it. But you are right, its only a $40 investment. I assume it will come with a 30 day trial. I'm sure it wont take more than a month for her to figure out if she likes it or not.

I'm in the same boat, hopefully she will but we'll see. The general consensus is that there will be a trial, but I'll see if I can't firm that up snooping around the internet this evening.

Not that I encourage this by any means but it depends if they will honor 1.0 buddy passes. I thought they said they would. I've never used one but they may sell them with the collector's edition. I thought they essentially function as a second copy of the game.

Smoking in front of where I work Smiley: wink I don't smoke anymore though, bourbon is my new weakness. She tried XI but it was too much for her and I'm not a good teacher. I'm hoping XIV is more her speed.

The quoting twice is a Firefox issue, the devs are aware, not sure when it will be fixed.

Ah, makes sense since I'm using Firefox, but now that I know I can catch it before posting.
And, I guess I'll take up smoking, I am looking for a new hobby for the summer.

Anime and gaming clubs. Duh.

Met my husband in anime club :D He was attracted to my bright fuchsia hair. I was attracted to his Patrick-Stewart-esque appearance and doctoral dissertation. Smiley: inlove
