1.0 Vets, what will we do at launch?Follow

#1 May 01 2013 at 1:44 PM Rating: Good
I was just thinking about it. I have a level 50 PLD that is going to transfer over. Obviously I would like to experience some of the new story but at the same time I do not want to re-grind a low level job. What are we 50s going to be able to do? Is there a significant amount of high level content already? Since they have so many characters transferring I would assume so.... Will the grand company missions all be completely different and our previous progress wiped?

Thoughts? Concerns? Preguntas?

From what I have already gathered there will be:

Primal Fights
AF Armor questlines
Normal dungeons
Levequests
Guildhests
Relic weapons
Crystal Tower
Labyrinth of Bahamut
new storyline quests
Endgame crafting

So I think there will be enough content to keep you busy for a bit. Personally, I have a 50 gld, 40-something archer, 30-something several other classes and about 20m gil... but I will be starting fresh as I'd like to experience this like a brand new game. That way, by the time I even GET to endgame content, they will be well into developing more.

I can understand not wanting to re go through all the hassel of grinding out levels on another character, but then again having multiple characters available to you is much more appeasing (to me at least.. hence see below)

Not 50 yet so I will be finishing off my Archer/Bard (35 atm), along with lvn up the Arcanist/Summoner job as well. As far as endgame content, I will get there when I get there. Not in any rush.

I have to get 4-5 more seals to be able to trigger my Relic Quest. I'll be focusing on that.

The main scenario and class quests are also being rebooted. So I have to do it seven times over for all of my level 50 classes. I want to build a house, kill the primals, get the achievements for the new dungeons. The Gilgamesh storyline... etc

Grand Company is getting a new storyline, previous progress isn't wiped, but if you didn't finish the old Umbral Era Storyline before, time has run out to do that content since the meteor has descended and all that fun destructive stuff.

I thought everyone's goal as a legacy member was to hop on a goobbue and harass every new player you see. Shouting ridiculous statements about your lower monthly fees an what not!

I know you're being sarcastic, but for some reason, I keep thinking that's the reason why people are so intent on going to new servers because they think we're so egotistical that we're going to hop on large exclusive mounts yelling "IN YOUR FACE" with our level 1 vanity exclusive-meteor horns. *shakes head*

I plan to go through all the "Legacy" questline first as I think it will be required. That is, they mentioned that there will be a tutorial questline for old players as well, though different.

After that I plan to level Arcanist with my level 1 friends just starting so I can experience the game as a new player.

But not further after that, I'm sure I'll work though the new GC questline until my LS and I can tackle some serious endgame stuff that's promised. Yoshi-P has said that Relic weapons will be a requirement before being given access to the Crystal Tower, and clearing the Tower is required prior to the Labyrinth of Bahamut.... so.... we got lots of things to do.

Translations in the official forum by Reinhart:

・Difficulty to obtain Dark Light gear will be eased, will be something lower than primal gear

・Need Relic to go Crystal Tower

・Crystal Tower gear is higher than Relic, Bahamut gear is higher than this

・With later added content it's possible to upgrade relic

・FATE level sync is switched on manually through task list

・Shiva coming after Ramuh and Leviathan

・BLM's magic damage increases by casting in a row

・The live demo video of Arcanist will be released around E3

・Can go to Eureka (FF3's dungeon)

I'm joining a new server because I want the fresh start that I wasn't able to have in 1.0 as a PS3 player. As a crafter, I will be keeping an eye out for what you legacy players discover about the economies on your servers. It has nothing to do with being intimidated by virtual jerks. I already expect better from an FF community.

That is the first translation I see where it says you need Relics complete to go into the labyrinth, in all the others I've seen it sounded more like the power of the Relics in 2.0 (before they make them upgradable) will be at the level you need to do the Crystal Tower.

It's from a translation of the FFXIV Events in Niconico. It's possible some is lost in the rough translation, but if the other gear is better than relics, it would make sense that you would need relics to obtain them.

Additionally, he could mean that you need them to complete the content from a difficulty standpoint, not that the quests are a requirement.

I'm going to play the market and try and recoup some of the gil loss, then I'm just going to have fun helping new people.

My biggest fear is that some folks will try and use their status as 1.0 players to form an elitist group even if they didn't play in the current Beta and have little idea of how new systems work.

Yeah I was referring to the translations I've seen from the event. From the ones I've seen earlier it was closer to assume he meant the latter of the two you mention, at least that is how I interpereted it. I mean it could mean you have to get a relic to unlock the tower, but I read it as the Crystal Tower being tuned to be completed with weapons like relic or of comparable power. I guess we will have to see, but I personally don't like the idea of having it as a requirement because it kind of takes away from the feeling that the weapon is special.

I agree, but then you'll have groups saying things like "No Relic or Triple Melds, no thanks" when this elitiism could be easily avoided with gated content and quests.

Particularly, the Relic weapons are already not special if they are outclassed by other items, and I would assume the upgraded version would be the special ones.

The elitism you are talking about will exist either way, having gated content doesn't make a difference in that regard. I think gated content is a good thing, don't get me wrong, but it does nothing to prevent elitism.

I agree they are not as special as they could be since they will probably be more or less "handed out", but just the fact that they require a long questline to complete and the lore and names of the weapons still counts for something to me. The upgraded versions still won't be the best weapons out there, but of course they will be more special than lower grade relic.

Either way I don't think gated content should be in the form of a specific weapon. You already have item level requirements for different tiers of content, don't force me into working for a specific weapon on top of that. I dunno I just don't like the idea of relics being tied to content in that manner I guess.

I cant take it or leave it, honestly. But I agree, having it be a separate, special, optional quest would make it special, regardless of power and quality.

I'm going to continue exactly where I left off in 1.0. All of my crafting classes, as well as fishing and mining are in the mid-20s, so that'll give me plenty to do.

It's really exciting to consider this...There is still an ffxiv shaped hole in my life with nothing that compares to it that can fill it. I'm looking forward to doing things with my LS be it Primals, finishing relic, discovering new areas, helping new members and other players, getting involved in the community, finding that killer item that sells for a million gil for a day and watching the market bring it back down after I've made all my profit :) I was disappointed to read from Luoiscool that Dark light gear will be easier than primals (I knew they were making it easier but I only have one piece and I thought I was so special lol). I guess there is a lot to look forward to and if I get bored with waiting for a new patch which I highly doubt then I might just create a new character and start with that one.

Yeah, I'll definitely make a new character on a fresh server just to feel the magic.
