Just happened to find this while browsing for FFXIV news.

http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/05/20/leaderboard-which-upcoming-fantasy-mmo-are-you-looking-forward/

It's only got 3 choices, but FFXIV is winning pretty handily. I guess there is some anticipation for it at least.

Eh... sorta..

Let's look at the poll.

First, it's limited to fantasy MMOs, so Wildstar isn't included. I'd have expected Wildstar to be a major draw on a more generic upcoming MMO poll.

Second, the only thing I've heard about ArcheAge is the name. And I guess by its inclusion here, it's probably a fantasy MMO. That's it though.

Third, we have our poster child for why NDAs exist in betas, TESO. That leaked footage a while back really removed most everyone's hope for that one. It's going to have some catching up to do right out of the gate.

In a field like that, yeah, I'd expect FFXIV to come out on top. The media releases have been tightly controlled, and while the marketing could be better, I expect that to pick up closer to release.

Yeah, I realize it's nothing groundbreaking, but still... it's got a very commanding lead over an extremely popular branded game like Elder Scrolls. It might not say a ton, but just the fact that it got over 2600 votes in a matter of a day says something right there. The entire poll from last week only got like 400 hits total, so clearly it has a fair amount of interest from the community.

In fact, looking back at almost all the Leaderboards they've done, this has gotten by far the most votes of anything and the poll has only been live for 20 hours. That's pretty impressive if you ask me.

Why? It's more votes than any other poll has gotten there in the last 3 months. It did that in 20 hours. I fail to see how that's sad.

2,600 is pretty sad when there are billions of people in the world. Of course, you'd have to be retarded to try to make that argument.

Heh, exactly. I don't know the traffic that site gets. I don't know what percentage of mmo gamers visit the site. There are a lot of unknown variables. What we can decipher is that it has drawn more attention than any other poll there, and a sizable majority of those voting picked FFXIV. I certainly don't think that can be taken as a bad thing.
#8REDACTED, Posted: May 22 2013 at 12:13 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The site gets an average of 400K+ visits a day, considering every single poll, gets posted on the main/beta forums for people to "Support" XIV... 2600 votes is sad, specially when you are making it out to be, some sort of proof of public interest, support blablabla....

I don't have access to the beta forums and would have no way of knowing that. I still fail to see how it's "sad", but whatever. Just trying to post something positive about FFXIV since we haven't seen much news on it lately.

The 2010 Player's Choice poll on that site barely broke 8k votes. Again, 400k+ visits doesn't really mean much when only a fraction of a fraction of them even bother with polls.

#12REDACTED, Posted: May 22 2013 at 12:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It's positive, no need to go beyond that tho Smiley: lol If it had been 100K Votes big different story, but seriously 2600 votes on the internets is sad any ways you want to slice it.

Not exactly sure what I've done other than respond to his comments, but go for it if you feel the need. I was actually just trying to post something positive about the game.

I'm talking about the back and forth between you two. I want it to end. Threads with 2 pages of you two arguing need to stop.
