Okay, so last year i heard about the new Final Fantasy XIV coming out. i even saw a trailer where some guy is on a chocobo and a ship pops out of no where. Then. Just recently, i was looking up if the game has already been released. While trying to find it. I see that another game called Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was going to be released. Are they samething!? Then on BestBuy, it says that Final Fantasy XIV Online is coming soon but it's on pre-owned games???

FFXIV did in fact come out a few years ago but it failed so they revamped it from the ground up. FFXIV A Realm Reborn is that revamp, currently in beta waiting to start phase 3 ( no date set yet). No sense picking up the old version being that version no longer exist. You could always use the code from that for ARR.

No, it's the same game reimagined and fixed. 1.0 was a horrible flop, so they brought in Yoshi-P who has basically rebuilt the game from the ground up.
After earning the trust and proving himself to the staff first~ I wonder what he had to do though..

No problem.
SE divided their beta testing for FFXIV:ARR into 4 phases, presumably so they could focus their testing on the things they wanted to get done.
Phase 3 is the next one, starting on the 14th of June.
If you do a google search for "FFXIV beta roadmap" or something similar, you can get a rundown of what each phase is all about.
The important one for you is probably going to be phase 4 which is open beta. That'll most likely be your first chance to play the game before you'd have to pay for it.

The first 3 phases are closed. You can certainly still apply.. I have no idea how many testers they actually need for phase 3 considering how much more of the game it represents.
Phase 4 is open to everyone with a pulse though, so if you don't get in phase 3, you get in phase 4 (assuming you are not the walking dead, in which case, you communicate quite well... kudos).

It was very selective for Alpha and Phase 1-2, but more folks will be brought in for phase 3 and phase 4 is basically open beta.

Coorect me if I'm wrong. All legacy players and those that hold accounts for FFXIV get automatic access to Phase 3 while those that apply for beta will get access in waves if selected. If you entered in the member code that came with FFXIII, you get a priority invite. But that leant guarantee access! I think

We don't know for sure, but our best bet is that they'll give you access to some kind of download for beta.

For Phase 3 on PS3 we will most likely get a Promo code to download it from the store. Phase 4 you can probably just download it from the store since its open.
