FFXV looks amazing!

I've always liked the idea of versus more than XIII.

I'm going to assume that the combat is going to have some mass effect like elements. Maybe crossed with the last story type gameplay.

XV and KH3 - proper drooling everywhere even though I bought a PS3 for both titles.

I doubt Sony will be willing to pay Square Enix for exclusivity anymore. It takes them too long to release their games.

KH3 is obviously in its very earliest stages. I guess Sony doesn't have enough assurance that it won't end up delayed until 2020.

Actually, 2020 wouldn't be that farfetched for Square Enix.

It would make more sense for Square Enix to have their games be multiplatform anyway. If they need to up their profits then giving the games to a wider market makes perfect sense. I doubt we'll be seeing many exclusives when it comes to new final fantasy games and kingdom hearts as a series has always been multiplatform.

I'm not saying it doesn't look amazing, and I agree I've been eager to play this game also... I was just hoping it would be stand alone, and we would also get a seperate XV.

I edited my post. Nomura mentioned DX11 a lot, being able to port XV to systems that have it natively. PS4 and Xbone both have it.

Yes I'm specifically asking about FF XV (15). Is it Ps4 or Ps3? It was originally Ps3 but are the porting it over?

Nomura said it was originally PS3. Over the years they debated about turning it into XV because of the scale. Two years ago they started hearing about next gen consoles and they decided to make it for PS4.

Cool that sounds preferrable anyways. Looks awesome imho. I think it might be one of my favorite titles so far, just purely based off the control scheme and battle mechanics.

Edit: I can't stop watching this gameplay trailer. It looks so badass.

Versus looks fabulous. Love the voices (mature). Japanese somehow seems better than English.
The graphics were off the hook. I may be too busy with xv to play it when it comes out, but definately
gonna buy it at some point.

Yippie!

I like how the video's opening monologue is, "This is a fantasy based on reality" as a building-sized behemoth flings the protagonist's body like a rag-doll... and then they follow that with a scene of someone shooting a machine gun at a guy while his personal force field deflects the bullets.

I had no idea living in Japan was so rough! Smiley: rolleyes

But I'm glad they're finally getting that show on the road. They announced this before the PS3 even launched, and now we're saying hello to the PS4. Smiley: lol

Man I really like where they are taking this. From what I have read and heard this is something like 2 mafia families are going against eachother for some reason. I cant wait man.. The gameplay is awesome! It may not be a innovative as some posters (not on zam) want it to be, but the fact that it is shaping up to be a worthy entry into the series, in my opinion, cant be denied. It may not be old school but that fact alone does not take out its bid at being a serious well deserving game worthy of the FF brand. XV I salute you :D ...Though I have to say I am sad to see that it is coming to xbone.. Xbox deserves NO LOVE for all the restrictions it places on gamers. Don't get me wrong, some of their games are amazing but the balance of that amazing with the the restrictions make it not worth it mhonestly.. R.I.P Microsoft.. and good luck next time :/

FFXV's gameplay looks ridiculously fun, holy sh*t. And remarkably similar to the fighting in the trailers. Looks like I'm buying a PS4.

The truth is the Final Fantasy series has gotten so big that it makes sense to turn it into an action-y series.

Granted, like other posters have stated I'd like to see some sort of strategy too. But turn based combat (in any form) is showing it's age. (Yes, I know what forum I'm posting in).

My only problem is that the combat looks too good; too scripted. What I don't want to see is quick-time events and "mash the X button" to break free.

Now that I'm looking at it, it'd be nice if it used a "gambit" type system for the party members in addition to the free form action parts.

----

In any case, I'm excited, and that's what I should be feeling for a Final Fantasy game. The graphics look awesome, the story and setting looks very interesting, and I'm looking forward to the gameplay. I haven't been this excited for a main series FF title in a long time.

Here's what bothers me.

I liked Final Fantasy's battle system before. If I didn't like how it was, I wouldn't have played 6, and then 7, and then 8, and then 9. There were differences among them, but the core was the same. Enter, Square"Enix", now every game needs a completely revamped and unique battling system...

No, I don't think it does. That's why I play games from different series.

I enjoy many different games, with many different play styles, much like I will probably enjoy FFVS/XV. But I don't see why every time they want to try out something new, they have to slap a "Final Fantasy" title on to it just because they know that the name sells. Make a new series with this new system!

I don't mean to sound sour about the release, I am actually pretty pumped. I just wish they would continue to roll out traditional style FF's, and keep their new systems out of it. Does that make sense?

No, it doesn't make sense.

This title is entirely too expensive, bloated, just... ridiculously stupid to not name it Final Fantasy and get as much sales as possible. It's been in development for a decade. They HAVE to get big returns on this.

I don't think there was any way they could not name it FFXV, really. It was just common sense and expected which is why some of those 'fake images' floating around turned out to be totally accurate.

As for wanting a more traditional system... well, who knows what they'll do? They're kind of flipflopping all over the place with their main series after Final Fantasy X.

Final Fantasy was one of the innovators of RPGs when it came out. Especially in contrast to the western RPGs of the time.

When Square moved to the ATB system in the games you mentioned, this was an effort to add some more real time elements to the battle system.

Of course in the past 10 years FF has changed it up quite a bit more (and has dabbled with 11, 12, 13) , but it has always been moving towards a real time system.

So I'd argue that a real time system was always the goal and not because of the merger. System limitations in the past prevented SE from realizing the battle system they wanted.

-----

But like I said I hope its strategic as well as realtime. I hope its innovative as well.

Though in the end I didnt play FF for the turn based system. I played for the summons, for the spells, for the limit breaks, for the art, the music and the story.

All of this wasn't to invalidate your feelings, but rather to show that it seems as though realtime battles were always the end goal and that I wouldn't miss them if they're gone.
