PS3 Beta Download?Follow

Hello all, I am a returning player and super excited for ARR...

I played FFXI for about 6 years and FFXIV briefly when it first launched...

I was chosen to be a beta tester for ARR but cannot find a place to download the game to my PS3 so I can initiate the beta test, and for some reason I can't find anything about it on Google. My fiance who is a master "Googler" couldn't find it either.

Can someone please post instructions on how to get the beta downloaded to my PS3?

Thanks!

I had the same exact problem.

I was chosen to be in the Beta but the email that square sent only had the 20 digit beta code. From what I could gather the e-mail was supposed to also have the 12 digit PS3 redeem code and apparently Square "forgot" to put it with some of the emails that were sent. I emailed square hoping for a solution but unfortunately it was after hours so by the time they answer it will be to late.

I don't know what is worse. Not getting into the beta or thinking that you had but unable to log in.

I tried to log in to the official FFXIV forums and it said that I couldn't because I had not logged into the game recently... what a slap in the face!

Okay I guess this is normal, I'll also send an email to customer support and hope for the best.

I was really hoping there was an answer out there I just wasn't finding online with the search engines.

Okay I submitted a ticket... I will post here when I receive valid instructions for downloading the PS3 beta in order to help others who are experiencing the same difficulty.

If anyone has already downloaded the PS3 beta, and I know some people have because it's under way now, please reply to this thread with information on where you downloaded the client from.

Again I'll also post if/when I receive info from Square-Enix.

Thanks for your assistance.

The only way to do it is with the 12 digit code they give you through the PSN store.

I wasn't able to find anything on the PSN store at all... in fact doing a search on Final Fantasy brings up a list of other FF games.. but I cannot find the beta...

How did you find it?

Thanks!

Oh okay, I think I understand exactly what's happened to me... I did not receive a 12-digit code for PS3.. only the 20-digit one for my Square-Enix account registration (which I did).

Apparently you do not go to the PSN store at all, you go to "Account Management" in the XMB and enter a code there.

I guess I need SE to give me the 12-digit code to type in to bring up the download in PS3...

You should have received 2 codes. A registration code and a beta code. Below the beta code here are the instructions.

If you do not have an SEN account, please register for one (more information on www.playstation.com)
Step 3: Choose Account Management>Redeem Codes
Step 4: Select Redeem Promotion Code - this brings up a screen to enter the code you have received
Step 5: Enter code and follow the steps on screen to redeem content
*Terms and conditions apply. Please visit http://us.playstation.com/support/termsofservice/index.htm to view full PlayStation®Network terms and conditions.

Details on how to install the Beta on your PlayStation®3 console can be found here.

Click where it says here and it will bring you to the instructions to install.

Thanks elrocco, that's a very informative post. However the problem is I received the 20 digit code but not the one for PS3 which is 12 digits.

I found this in the announcements:

2013-06-14 20:00 From : FINAL FANTASY XIV
Users that are Unable to Redeem their PS3 Promotion Codes (Jun. 14)
We have confirmed an issue wherein North American PlayStation 3 users outside of the United States are unable to redeem their PlayStation 3 promotion code to download the FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta software.

We are working to address the issue, but our current estimates show that the fix will not be in place before the end of the first weekend of testing. We are confident that the issue will be resolved before the next test is scheduled to begin. In the meantime, if you wish to participate in the test this weekend, you can use your Beta Test code to play on the PC version as well. This will not affect your ability to play on the PS3 version once the issue has been resolved.

Once the issue has been resolved, we’ll be sure to post a follow-up announcement.
We sincerely apologize about this and appreciate your understanding in the matter.

Yeah I think this were referring to the people that got the PS3 code for the store, but wasn't working because they got a NA code when they were in another region. I think your problem is, you got selected for the PC beta. The PC beta email only has one code.

Question: Where do I put the 20 digit code?
I've downloaded the software from the store, logging in with my Square Account. Does the Beta number go int the one-time password?

You'll need to enter in your square enix ID and password that you made when you created an account and registered the beta code to your square enix account. The one time password is the 6 digit number you get when you press the red button on your security token you get/got from the CE of 1.0. If you have not created a square enix account, you may go here to do so. Just click on the big blue button that says "square enix account create new account." If this doesn't work, I would check the instructions from your email that you received your beta test code in.

EDIT: In the event you've already made a square enix account, but have not registered the 20 digit code to your square enix account, I would try to find a place to register it under the "Services and Options" tab on the lower left hand corner of the screen after you log in.

Thanks. FWI the beta code entry comes after you've logged into the SE account on ps3. My pw got rejected a few times (maybe my typing skills). Once it got accepted, next page is for the 20 digit beta code.
Cheers and thanks!

I just received my beta code via PSN. The email came into my PSN mailbox, & included a direct link to the PS Store via the XMB. I was able to download the Updater/Launcher link my accounts. Unfortunately, the server isn't responding. I'm wondering if it is because the Beta is currently down, or if it is due to the congestion mentioned in previous threads on this forum & The Lodestone. Any information would be appreciated.

-Cheers

Edit: After the 8th time I tried, the server responded, & I'm downloading as we speak.

I think it is because the Beta servers are down. You can start up the launcher and even read the digital manual but the button for server status is red and if you try to log in it will give you a message about the servers not responding. I tried this because I was hoping I could get far enought into the launcher to use the XMB to (hopefully) take a screenshot but I'm just going to have to wait till the weekend where I can try it in game since the launcher won't even let you access the XMB.

Anyone with a ps3 able to actually READ the manual? I can't because the screen is like 13", so not sure where/how to increase the font size.

Maybe the lodestone will update manuals or something.

I'm playing on a 40" Vizio 1080 TV, with HDMI connections for my PS3, and I just opened the manual. I'm having no problems whatsoever reading the manual. What kind of TV are you using? I remember when I did the beta for DCUO & people who were on SD televisions were having the same problem. Every menu was difficult to read due to the ration being off, as well as the low quality of the TV screen. I had similar problems during the first 2 weeks I owned my PS3. I bit the bullet and bought an HD television & haven't had problems since. I would try that if you can.

Edit: If you can access the beta forums you can check the instructional manual there. Good luck.Smiley: smile

46" Vizio 1080p LCD with HDMI connection. Have no problem reading the manual though it is just the same stuff you get from the manual that is in the Beta forums.

Edit: You beat me to the Beta Forum comment :P

Rather that bitting the bullet, I'd like to know how to increase the screen size and font size. however, maybe when the game actually starts it will take up the screen.

I've played Final Fantasy and Black ops on this ps3 and tv w/o an issue.

So, if anyone can tell me how to increase font size to like 18 or 20, that would be great. Thanks so much!

Unfortunately, I don't think you can Grandmomma. One thing I did before I got my TV was use an old HD computer monitor. It was much smaller, but I think for some games HD is nearly a requirement to read the menus. I think, at this point, your best bet will be to use a PC or equivalent to look on the Beta Forums. You can access them thru your PS3's internet browser. The info should scale for you and be readable. There is a zoom function built into it. Its not the best browser, but it may work for you.

Just FYI, the one-time password is where you would enter the authenticator code if you ever get a security token. It's the keychain(or smartphone app) that generates a 6 digit code for added protection.
