We understand you'd like to send tells and coordinate post-dungeon activity or perhaps invite a friend to the next run. Unfortunately placing players in dungeons and guildhests is a function of the duty finder which locates players across several servers and then temporarily unites them on a different server.

Since you're traversing instanced content in this separate server, it makes it impossible to send tells back across the different worlds, including your own.

Wth? Did anyone use duty finder this past weekend? Does it just prevent whispers, or LS chat as well?

Well I have no doubt that the way they programmed it he is stating the truth, but other games do it just fine, so I'm not sure where the disconnect is. That's why I'm curious if it's just whispers, or LS chat all.

Thats...kinda weird if you ask me. Wow had the same duty finder so everyone can do their daily instances across the servers and i was able to talk in /w or w/e if i am not mistaken. Correct me if i am wrong.

Now that is not ground breaking since if i had my friends in the first place i wouldn't use the duty finder but still it is kinda annoying.

Yes in wow you can chat in any way you want.

The problem ends up being when you want to run a dungeon and your friends are on characters of other levels, or they're just going to be on a short time, or there's 5 of you and none of you can or want to tank or heal. Maybe you get two groups together into duty finder, but still want to chat.

This

they should at least give you the option to set your duty finder to ppl on your server only. wtf? I would rather shout in a city for a group/help than use duty finder under those circumstances.. well SEs finally shown us something in ARR that Id consider a BAD move

I think it's great myself, better odds at finding a group. Have fun with your shouting Smiley: laugh

I suspect they move everyone to a separate instance server that you run the dungeon on, hence the no tells/LS chat. Duty finder wasn't implemented last weekend, I was hoping to see it this weekend.

I think that's definitely a functionality they should consider. A little checkbox. "If not enough players from your server are available, would you like to expand the instance to include players from other servers? WARNING: Checking this box will temporarily limit your ability to send chat messages and tells to players outside of your party."

And if someone leaves the checkbox, the Duty Finder does its best to grab folks from the same server. If there is no other person seeking for that dungeon, it flashes a message warning that there are not enough players on your server seeking, and offers to expand the duty finder to include all servers.

Honestly, the Duty Finder concerns me in the same way Omegle concerns me. You have a 50% chance of having a funny conversation with someone you've never met and an awesome raid together. You have a 50% chance of getting a horny 14 year old boy, or worse, a perverted 50 year old man, both of whom are saying (or worse, showing) wholly inappropriate things.

At least with everyone on my server, I know how to blacklist the jerks.

.... Oh man, Duty Finder definitely needs to cross check your blist and not pair you up with anyone you've previously blocked. Awkward!

I agree with everything you said Catwho except for singling out boys or old perverted men.

I have seen just as many perverted girls and women in real life and in games. The only difference is most females have the"I don't want to be viewed as a **** phobia". So they do it in secret. Most guys who talk nasty are usually not even turned on when they converse in that way. They just talk that way to boast or show off.

Regardless of how acceptable people find the lack of receiving chat messages while in dungeons, we shouldn't just brush off the omission.

This feature is standard in most other games on the market, so its omission is pretty unacceptable.
