Does anyone else ever realllllly want to be a Lalafell but then have this deep feeling on anxiety because they are actually SOO small that you can't see their awesome gear?

Yeah... this is my biggest problem I'm having today Smiley: lol

The trick I think is to stay away from heavily ornate gear lol. Robes and hats seem to fit them best and reminds me to watch where I'm stepping!

I just remember taking a Taru in XI to like 70 and I was so sad that I couldn't see his awesome gear that I started over with an Elvaan... I'm so torn as to what I should do this go around!!!

Never been a problem for me, but I'm one of those silly Taru who went with the largest model.

Never occurred to me that I was having trouble seeing my gear, but XI had plenty of detail for me at the time.

Besides, I know what I have, and I can see everyone else just fine!

I think they've done a good job with it, check out my impressions thread, you can see my fancy coat pretty well.

So much more detail in XIV shouldn't really be an issue. I rolled a Roegadyn this time to give the little people a place to sit.

It's not as big a problem as you may think. The only real downside of tarutaru is that they were not given five fingers in each hand (though they're supposed to have five fingers in each hand). Some detail did get lost or compromised in the transition, but nothing utterly game-breaking.

My original 1.0 character was an awesome little lalafell gal named Leeloo. She was quite popular. I got yelled at by many people when I got rid of her and came back as a gargantuan roegadyn. There are certainly some major camera changes when switching from one extreme to the other. That took a bit to get used to.

As for gear, the miniature stuff, especially weapons, can be cool. Though it's also nice to see more of your gear on a roegadyn. One thing I missed from XI was their tail and how some of the gear would cover the 1st part of it.

I'll have a bucket of original recipe and...

Oops! I'm sorry Wint. Every time I see your avatar I have this irresistible urge to order chicken for some reason.

I had a Taru alt aptly named DamienTaru on FFXI. I didn't play him a whole lot, but it was fun running around as BLM/WHM with two astral rings in the dunes XD. Of course I ended up using HQ INT rings in parties, but it was fun seeing so much MP with merits, especially after playing Elvaan so long.

I'm personally not a fan of Lalafells compared to TaruTarus. I suppose I prefer the pot-bellied bodies of tarus over the sleeker bodies of the lalas. Don't get me wrong though, that fu manchu is by far the most awesome facial hair in the game, but they are just not for me.

I was surprised at how few Elzen there were when I played. Gridania had a few, but Ul'dah was nearly elf free. I suppose everyone is playing Elzen Archers and Lancers XD.

Hopefully it was just because everyone wanted to try out the manthras and the new females and populations will even out a bit. If not I guess I'm alright with being a unique little snowflake.

You're right the detail is pretty good... My problem with my Lala so far has been on my own screen. When I'm in battle the "gamepad" hot button menu completely covers up my little guy and I can't see anything he is doing!!

I was thinking about this earlier. I played a Tarutaru in ffxi, and really didn't mind it at all. The gear looked just fine, and the play experience wasn't diminished at all.

You darn tarus... if ever I'd make a comment about how your gear looked you'd just panic dance. I'd coo and forget what the conversation was about!

We aren't forming massive conga lines... The truth is far more sinister.

We're tracing Ley-lines in unison in an effort to combine our power, and annihilate all life less adorable than we are.

Fortunately for you folks, some easily distracted jerk always panics, interrupts the casting, then it's just like a contagious Yawn, and soon everyone is dancing, waving, running in random circles in various modes of undress...

Then it's time for Snacks... One cannot bring about any sort of apocalypse on an empty stomach.

SQUIRREL!!!!!

...

What were we talking about again?

Haha, that's awesome Wint. My girlfriend told me something similar about my facial hair. Within the last year or so I decided to keep my beard, but I shaved it off once to see how she liked it. She ended up asking me where my face went XD. It's good to have our ladies encourage our hairstyles :D

Haha! Looks like your going to experience that again; the panic emote in ARR is nearly identical to ffxi.

I wish I could remember my Tarutaru dance macro I had set up in FFXI, it was so cute on my little Mimiroo.
