Ah okay yeah, added them to my hot cross buns bar. Woot! I can blow things up again.

Still got synced down to level 6 during a main scenario quest. Smiley: laugh

Huh, yea I got the normal cart/merchant opening, and there was nothing different at all. I didn't actually do anything other than get out of the opening but I was disappointed. I assume they're going to use the 'foggy memory' for us not remembering who we were either.

We have to run through the guilds training and then all related quests are level synced so I can SEE all my awesome moves, but I can only use 2 abilities...

Can only use 2 moves during the instanced quest, or until you finish the entire chain?

I think it makes perfect sense to reward legacy players with some perks simply because SE shut down the servers and they lost the characters they'd put so much time into... except that legacy players are getting their characters back with all loot, levels, etc..

As far as I can tell, the right thing to do is to give legacy players the retail game "for free" since they already bought it, let them keep their characters, and some sort of visible badge of elitism. Anything beyond that seems like a bit of an insult to players who either chose not to reward a terrible product or were waiting for the console release.

That said, only perk they can give legacies that actually harms the game is allowing them to keep established characters, because of the potential to ruin the economy for the new playerd. The rest is essentially fluff as far as I am concerned. If a legacy pays less than I do for the subscription or has a kewl chocobo it really doesn't make the game any better or worse for me.

As far as legacy and other players getting along, it just depends on the players. Envy and elitism are not fate, they are personal choices. We can choose to judge others by the way they act, and not just some label.

I'm even further and have met all the Town leaders with the same "you look familiar" crap and then they go on to tell me about myself (the warriors of light.) I feel like at some point my guy would interject... it's actually making me a tiny bit mad, like watching a white girl hide in a closet in a scary movie.

This is interesting... I bet the storylines for old and new players will be incredibly similar.

Still, I really wish there could be a way to completely reset my 1.0 character, move to a newbie server, and fully experience my character's story the way it was meant to be experienced... I'm really bummed about having to completely lose my backstory in order to start over again.

I don't think anyone is actually hating on the Legacy players, but as expected non-Legacy players don't want to feel less than. So, the heat is being directed at Square Enix in my opinion.

The argument by non-Legacy players is that they have to pay more per month, while Legacy already have perks like the unique Legacy chocobo, name in the game credits, Legacy tattoo on your character, etc.

Then, Legacy people (like Hyrist said) usually say something like "you had your chance to be Legacy, #dealwithit".

I happen to agree that Legacy players are getting too much special treatment (with the pricing). I know that my friend is playing FFXIV on his PS3 and he's a little bummed about the Legacy stuff because his PC sucks and he was waiting for the console version.

Edit: lol, the fact that I'm calling one group "non-Legacy" unironically is telling. I agree that the divide in the community is stupid, but SE did it themselves.

You have to take into account the PC required to play that game, everyone i know including me clunked out 800-1200 for our pc just to run the game decently back then. Now there is the ps3 option maybe 200~ and a pc to play this game on medium with max 60 frames can be had for 350-500.

Ha, yep. That was me! I built an entirely new rig, just with FFXIV in mind.

Haha, I'm in the same boat. I originally just bought a new video card (GTX 460, which was just released at the time). Then I realized I needed a new motherboard, then more RAM, then my hard drive died... I ended up just building an entire new PC Smiley: lol

No regrets, though. I can run pretty much anything with my current set up.
