You have to be in a certain city to become a miner?

Also where is fishing?

Edit: meaning when are they adding it?

They spread out each class trainer between the 3 cities. I believe mining is in ul'dah.

You can get every class at level 10 fairly easily. It's not that long of a walk between cities (2-3 zones).

Is the overall size of the world dramatically reduced from XI?

Well it's the first title in hopefully many expansions. Of course its smaller. When FFXI first came out all it had was the 3 cities and the zones that led to jeuno. Didn't even have the beastmen strongholds. But Yoshi has already said they have the ability to add a lotta new zones and will between now and the first expansion. With that said if you played 1.0 in comparison the world seems a lot bigger than it used to be.

I feel your pain. I'm at level nine alchemist and need more water crystals. You get crystals from mobs you defeat.

I couldn't find a place to 'buy' them and the 'market board' had none to sell. Perhaps things will change once thousands more people are on the serverfs. lol
