I've never played an MMO like this before...Follow

I could totally use all the help anyone is willing to give. I didn't get to play much in Beta so far, I think I only played for like two days until it went down to transition to phase 4. I know this is vague, I don't really give very much information on what I do know, but I literally don't know anything.

Unpinking the size 3 font would be a good start!

What kind of help do you need?

It looks good on my screen, sorry.

I literally know nothing. I only got to like level 4 and I was totally confused most of the time I played. I managed to figure out how skills work and sort of figured out quests but nothing else. The only MMO I've ever played didn't involve dungeons, either, or parties set up with specific roles, so I totally don't understand that either.

Give us some questions you have (try to be specific) and we'd be glad to answer them. Smiley: nod

Yea plus next is phase 3 part 4 not phase 4.

As for help as parathyroid said you need to give more information in what you do not understand so that we can provide you with information.

However the basic stuff I can tell you are:

You start from lvl 1 and you can go up to lvl 50. You choose a class (like gladiator conjurer marauder etc). To level you character you need to do the quests that are given to you (quests are the NPCs that have exclamation marks above their heads). There is also a story and you can recognize story line quests are the ones with an exclamation mark that is in a "golden fire" above the NPC heads. When you reach level 10 you can unlock other classes so by equipping a different weapon you can start leveling that. Also when you reach level 15 you can start doing instances (keep in mind you need to do some quests for that first).

Instance dungeons are doable if you are in a party of 4. You get in there and start killing stuff for xp and in hope of good gear drop.

This are the really basic stuff you need to know the rest you can figure them out yourself or of course ask away.

Also a dungeon party is made with 4 people as I said. That includes a tank that holds the mobs and takes the damage so you need a class like a gladiator or a marauder for that. You then need a healer to heal the rest of the part and that is the class conjurer and last you need 2 dps players that can deploy good damage and kill the mobs. Classes for that are for example archers THM etc.

Also that color in your post hurts my eyes! >_<

Like, what would be a good server to join? How do dungeon runs work (what classes take what roles)? Are there any decent guides or anything I can read in order to get a better understanding of this game? I never managed to get to another town either when I played...

You would be better off joining the ZAM one for non-legacy IMO. Most dungeons need a tank, and healer and DD (THM/ARC/PUG etc). Read the instruction manual in the beta forums - they help a lot and people are starting to write some decent ones on Zam finally :) (mostly because the NDA has been lifted).

Hope you find what you are looking for and take it easy, new MMO's take some time to get used to :)

Read my post above for the dungeons. Also you can move to different towns by walking I guess but at level 15 you will be able to get an airship pass and move with that to different towns.

Lastly check the beta forums there is a section with the games manual you can read up. It gives information about the game.

Sorry, the text is less severe on my screen because I set my forum theme to a black background, but I changed it.

Thanks for all the basic explanations. I've played an MMO before (as I said) but this one is so completely different from MapleStory I was a little overwhelmed when I played.. I had so many questions when I thought of posting this thread and now that I posted it they've completely slipped my mind.

What is and how do I use the link break thing?

You mean the Limit breaker. You can use that only when you are in a party (I thought only in dugneons but I could be wrong)

When in there your party gets a meter. When that is full one of your party members can use their limit breaker. Doing so it will empty the meter and you will need to keep fighting in order to use it again.

Tanks limit breaker is to op the defense, range classes limit breaker is for healing as well as the healers limit breaker. THM have AOE dps (area of effect) and melee classes is to hit a single target.

Limit Break is built when you are in a party performing regular actions. To equip it, go to your Actions and Traits panel (shortcut is P) and then find it in the list... I can't remember where exactly it is. Drag it into your hotbar, and voila. I'd reccommend only using it when you are asked to however, as it is usually saved for boss fights.

As far as server, the ZAM LS is on Ultros currently, so I'd reccommend joining that for Open Beta.

Limit break is kind of an "Oh sh*t!" button. It's a meter that fills up when you're in a party, and any party member can use it. Different classes do different limit breaks though.

I'm a little suspicious(just my nature) as to why you're asking questions about parties, limit breaks and the such when you've only gotten to lvl 4?

Oh okay. (Also, I play on the PS3, not computer)

Thanks for that information. Right now I am searching through the Official forums for the guide that was mentioned.

Also, I guess I will do Ultros, sounds like the community here is very helpful and friendly.

I asked because I intend to play and it would be nice to know how it works prior to joining one after leveling up and doing something wrong. I like to know the mechanics of a game before I play it seriously.

Yes, I understand that, but that's not really what I was asking. I'll leave it alone.

In any case, definitely join Ultros server and there are a number of people from here that can get you an invite to our community LS.
