Where t get shards for crafting?Follow
I got a few from quests but where else are these obtained to do more crafting?

Botany is a good source, I assume Mining is as well.

Botany has a guild I know that,,,
Crafting is actually fun in thus game...

How do you start gathering or mining?

Go to the mining or botany guild and join up. You'll get a skill that you have to activate for the first level only, at level 2 it's automatic. When you go into the zones outside town, activate the skill and you'll see a new icon on your mini map. Go up to the sparkly and start choppin' :)
ETA: Once you look in the "Gathering Log" in the menu, it will tell you which zones contain which shards as well.

I did not see mining guild in our city, Which city is it in?

I haven't checked ay other gathering, but ~40 Mining gains an ability that automatically increases the number of shards, crystals and shards to 5 per hit. I will check the other ones when the servers come back up.

Both Miners and Botanists get them. At the moment, Miners get Fire, Water and Lightning while Botanists get the other three, but I'm sure once Fishing gets added that it'll siphon one from each.
In order for the ability to work correctly, the harvesting node you are using MUST have the right crystal and type. No mixed results allowed. Otherwise you just wasted 400 GP.
