Until now, we had planned for a sort/arrange process to take place on the server-side database which collects player information.

However, in phase 3 with the addition of the Armoury Chest, player inventories immediately increased to 400 slots, and we have had to revamp these processes that we had originally planned for.

While it will take a bit of work, we are now proceeding to switch the sort/arrange process to take place client-side. With this system in place, it should address the requests we have been receiving.

Below are the features that will be ready for phase 4:
Inventory: It will be possible to use a feature that automatically separates items into categories when obtaining items.
We will be making it easier to identify items that can be equipped and those that cannot by adding an "X" over the equipment icons.

The specs for the inventory item search feature have been completed; however, due to the fact that the person in charge of implementing this is the same for the above, it will be addressed after the sort-related features have been implemented. We appreciate your patience.

Seems like a smart decision to me. No reason to burden the server with sorting items when the order only matters to the end user.

Anything you can offload to the client while still keeping the sanity checking on the server side is a plus.

Any idea if there has been been mentioned if they are going to provide comparisons for stats other than just the 2 defenses? That was really annoying having to jump back and forth to try and compare them

Got worse when turning in a quest that put the reward pane in a cutscene... no way to open the character pane to check existing stats... you just had to guess.

Well, for what it is worth, I checked the official feedback thread, and ...

Quote:
Feedback: I want to be able to compare the quest reward with my current gear by easily being able to see the stat differences.

Status: Working as Intended

Developer Comment: When receiving gear as a quest reward, by hovering your mouse over the item, an item description window should appear, indicating its stats in comparison to your currently equipped gear.

I don't know if they didn't fully understand the feedback or what, since I'm sure to most people they're more interested in comparing the specific attribute stats, not the defense and magic defense.

Uh yeah... looks like they didn't understand the feedback there. Defense and Magic Defense are actually the stats I'm LEAST concerned about as a dps or a healer.

Yeah. They need to add the +/- to the attribute stats too, not just Defense/Magic Defense. That should fix it right up!

Also, it would be nice if you could hover over those stats in the Character screen and get some quick tool tip info.

This. If they don't want to give full details of the numerical effect (e.g. Critical Hit Rating 86 gives 5.67% Crit Chance, for example), at least a description of a) what the stat does, and b) what influences the stat (does DEX affect accuracy? STR/DEX/MND/INT affect determination? etc.)

Agreed. A tooltip of comparison of a new piece of gear to the one currently equipped would be mighty helpful.

I'm betting this could be accomplished with Addons if they don't implement it themselves.

If that data is exposed to the API, I'd bet all the money on it.

Which also makes me wonder-blunder...has Yoshi confirmed, denied or otherwise mentioned if add ons would be available to the PS4?

I'm reasonably sure the answer to that question has always been "No." But I can't cite a source just right now, so I could just be wrong.

Off hand though, unless SE added something like an app store to the PS3 version of XIV, I don't know how you'd get addons delivered to you. And they haven't mentioned anything like that.

It still baffles me why SE feels they need to hide their stats from everyone. I can still remember how frustrating it was in FFXI trying to figure out exactly how much +acc it would take to increase your acc by 1%. Just make things transparent so that people can understand them without having to take years to decipher the damage formulas. I mean, people are going to figure them out eventually regardless of what you do, so why turn it into something that only the mathletes or forum users are going to see? If the game is meant to cater to new players as well as vets, the more transparent they make their stat information, the better imo. Heck, I love statistics, and I'd still prefer them to be open with everything.

If SE is smart they'll release DLC add-ons in PSN for a few bucks each... I'll buy them all!

I must have spent over $100 this past year just on extra garbage through PSN for DCUO, and I was only playing DCUO as a placeholder for FFXIV!

They did mention they would be vetting user created add-ons, so they'll at least be aware of a good portion of what's out there. I think if they want to work on converting them for use on PS4, I would definitely be in the market to purchase them. They could even work a deal with Sony for PSN+ discounts and stuff.

The inventory was a horrible mess especially when you got mining to 22 and gathering to 20. I couldn't sort through what was lower level mats or higher.
