Man thats good to hear, im really excited for crafting and breeding chocobos, it would be cool if you got thropies for killing end game monsters you can display, maybe they could have endgame monsters drop materials used to make super awsome furniture. "Come inside and try out my behemoth paw chair" "you see that candle holder thats made of real behemoth teeth!" Something along the lines of that

I'm pretty sure I read something along those lines. Going to have to dig for a source.

My favorite part of this game is crafting HQ items, so my question is this, will there be HQ furniture and what do you think will be different about it?

LOTRO had player housing, and it sounds like ARR's will be very similar to theirs, which isn't a bad thing. I also remember the mog house in ffxi. I quit Aion before they implemented their housing, but it sounds similar to that of LOTRO

I hope FFXIV housing will have more freedom and variety than LotrO housing though. LotrO housing had 1 housing area for each of the four races, but the interior of all the houses were the same. One giant room and 2 small side rooms to each side. Except the elf homes where 1 of the side rooms was on the second floor. And decorating the houses was restricted to preassigned hooks. So, every house you entered, you knew beforehand that you would see a special furniture item in the center, with a small furniture item on this spot, small wall item on that spot, etc. There was very little room for creativity or freedom and every house was basically the same. After the initial excitement, housing became nothing more than the extra storage chests. You would never see anyone linger in a housing area and if you ever saw another person in your neighbourhood, it was a huge shock.

I hope we'll have the freedom to at least have some options with how our houses are laid out and how they look. if not total freedom, at least be able to pick from some templates. And I'm really hoping for free form decoration. If the number of items we can place in our house has to be limited, that's fine. But if I want to place all my items in one corner of my house, I should be able to do so.

I use to HQ furniture synths in FF XI quite often. Since there were no actual HQ furniture items though, it didn't make any difference. Crazy sad. I always thought I should have been able to create a "Finely Carved Commode", or "Supremely Comfortable Mahogany Bed", etc.

I really do want gardening and recipes for household items. And the idea a few posts up about DoH stuff around your front yard was really cool.

It's not even open beta yet, and there already seems to be a lot of depth. When this stuff comes out, there's going to be an awful lot to keep me busy. So excited!

In the articles that cover this it is mentioned that DoH will have some play in housing. An example that was given was the gardening that some people have mentioned.

Company house:
1.A Banner or flag displaying company name and emblem outside house.
2.A monument displaying names of all the people living in that house. The monuments can be out of different materials depending on company rank amongst the world. It would begin with wood and go thru upgrades like rock, onyx, sapphire, diamond, etc. The materials can downgrade if your company is not active and accomplish things.
3.The shared house can have themes or skins applicable to the walls, floors, and ceilings which are unlocked by accomplishing major milestones as a company.
4. Furniture will be earned by killing many regular monsters, special monsters, and various other activities.
5.Group screenshots will be able to be framed in pictures or as paintings.
6.Statues of members or enemies will be craftable made of stone, diamond, gold, etc. And be displayable in the main hall.
7.A dining room with a huge table for celebrating birthdays, etc. Company members can craft candles, cakes, party decor.
8.There will be a minigame room for playing multiplayer triple triad, Final Fantasy Tactics ARR, etc.
9.A room for crafting with bonuses for crafting there.
10.A war room with a guild bank, shareable map that members can make special marks on, and a duty blackboard for company quests or goals to be completed.
11. Custom company apparel

Outside:
1.Chocobo breeding stables
2.Retainer vendor shop

B)Gridania- Hunt, play hide n seek in thick woods, chopping lumber competition, log throwing, etc.
C)Uldah- Dance club, sewer shortcuts, putt putt golf, theater with plays.

Personal room in company house:
1.Everything FFXi had plus a few amenities other games have.
2.A jukebox for listening to any ARR track if you wish while crafting or lounging in your room.
3.Frameable pictures or paintings that hold screenshots.
4.Retainers or moogle that you can apply vanity skins to.
5.A personal journal only viewable by others if you allow it.
6.Custom themes for decor.
7.A shortcut to anywhere in town.
8. Personal pets like parrots, hamster, etc that you have to feed, love, and nourish.
9. A moon roof for gazing at the constellations in your bedroom.

Oh yeah it's just a personal wishlist XD. Whatever they are doing with houses will start off a bit simplistic and get deeper as time goes on.

I'm really really looking forward to housing! I always had dreams of great mog house designs in FFXI but the reality never lived up to it. Having storage only accessible from home nation and tying said storage to the furniture made it lackluster. It ended up being 10 bureau type boring brown chests and a few decorations. Even so I still went to the trouble to do the BCNMs for the mannequin quest, had all the nation flags, a few plants and fishtanks. All the holiday stuff was great but most people I know all just had christmas trees year round because moving stuff around, changing storage, etc was too much trouble. I really really hope its better and more varied this time (it will be!)

I'm a rolling stone. I'm more interested in buying a house, repairing it and then flipping it at a nice profit. I travel a lot, so
it doesn't appeal to me.

I plan on going to each city, town and dungeon. Wherever I lay my hat is my home.

Unless, I get filthy rich, and they allow us to buy multiple dwellings.

I'm just sayin.... *wink*
