In every MMO i've played, I could never bring myself to make a short char. Being 6''2, making a tall char just felt like the right thing to do. During the 3rd weekend of P3, I spent the last 2 hours just messing around in char creation. I decided to look at Lalafell...and ended up making one that really got my attention. During the final weekend, I played with him.

So, I've been saying that I wanted 2 chars from the beginning. My Highlander Hyur from 1.0 on a Legacy server and a new one on a new server. I shall join the Lalafell Legion in P4!

(Also, I want to be a Bard, and they just look so pimp in that AF...it's all about the hat.) :)

I'm 6'2" as well, I never felt the need to have my character reflect my physical attributes in a game. I actually prefer smaller characters in video games because they give the illusion that they move faster, even though they don't...just because of the way the animations work to cover the same amount of ground. I had a Taru in FFXI I played, and a Galka as well, and even though they moved at the same exact speed, I always felt so slow on my Galka.

I played with all the races except hyur during the beta, and I realized that I like my characters tall. I was pretty pumped about getting to try out a male miquote, but I was disappointed with their height restrictions. Before p3 I was convinced that I would play as one, but then I just couldn't get over their shortness. After the miquote, I made a freaking ginormous roegadyn, but it felt a bit slow and clunky to me (I realize that is just my impression), so I decided to just stick with elezen after all.

The first beta char I made was a male mi'qote. Something about it seemed off to me...I'm guessing it was the height thing. I didn't make a galka in FFXI because they felt a bit too slow for me as well. My highest beta char was an elezen. That little Lala made me want to try something new though.

I've never played a short char. Always was tempted to do so, all things considered.

I am seriously considering making my P4 and beyond char a lalafell, though. I guess the character creator will sway my opinion.

I was going to be a Lala, but darn those Uldah cutsceens the queen looked like she was wearing a diaper! Now I can't get that bottomheavy vision out of my head. Why couldn't they make them slim?

Also, the lala's are so freakin little you can't see what they are wearing. They look like piggies running on their hind legs.

Its a tradgedy, no its a comedy! Oy, I'm not sure which.

I tried a Lala in an attempt to remake my Mimiroo from FFXI... I couldn't stand the camera angle, just felt weird to me as opposed to the Elezen I eventually stuck with.

I am almost 75% on making a taru...erm, lalafell. I was going the other route and thinking of recreating my mithra from FFXI, but I have had enough of the tails, even with the option of making a male version.

During Beta I managed to make a Lalafell girl that is almost the spitting image of my 2 year old. Minus I gave her lavender hair lol. Struggling between that or Rogeden female just do be able to see gear details. I was a Taru male in FFXI as I hated all the female hairstyles that were offered.

Long long ago when FFXI started, I created a taru in Windurst which I thought was pretty cool. Surrounded by other tarus and mithra (which weren't so tall) it didn't matter. Then I met some traveling galkas, humes, and elvaans out there in Saruta one day. I felt so small when standing near them. Realized I couldn't see as much detail on my gear either. So I went the bearded Hume route.
That choice affected my race choice again this time around. I'm going Highlander.

6'5" here...

Top-shelf reacher, Bald-spot noticer, Basketball-palmer, (can't shoot a basket without a revolver though, Utterly terrible.)

The guy you invite over to take a photo of sitting in your MG Midget for laughs "look at me in your tiny car" (Great legroom, no hip space, can't put the top up)

Tall enough that I hit my head on nearly everything, Just a hair too short to see it before I get there.

We play games to experience things we cannot in reality, and as such, welcome to the "Big guy pretending to be short" club.

No, we WON'T reach that shelf for you, HAH!!!

Taru--- I mean... Lalafell Power!! (still sounds like a damn teletubby)

I myself am short (5'6") but never had the desire to play a super tall character. Also, there's something appealing about being the size of a large raccoon and leaving a trail of mobs with bloody knees in your wake.

I don't like playing short characters, but I admit, there's a certain appeal to having a short character wielding a weapon two or three times their size with ease, leaving a trail of devastation behind.

I played in all the beta with a lala and that is what I am going.for.release. The fun part of it is that people keep calling me a taru. I was in TTD one day before a boss we were talking who should use the LB and a had a guy call me a taru twice...took my idiot face and said "Did you just call me a taru??" Everyone started laughing!

Funny you say that. I want to make my miq'ote shorter. She's just a little shorter than a hume, maybe 5'2'' or so on the shortest setting. I want to make her around 4'8''. Lalafels are too short for me, I want something just a bit taller and more proportionate.
