Look closely at each site.

Look above the little information box. One says Beta Tester Application Site. The other says Beta Tester Registration site. They do not contradict eachother; they do not contradict previous information.

Remember this:

Registration is entirely different than application. Application must take place before registration. Let's just hope those of us who have already applied and registered (most of us) will begin before the 17th, and that new applicants can apply (starting the day that we all get to start testing again) will then get to register on the 17th and start as additional wave of testers once they register their brand new codes on the 17th.

Perhaps.... Phase 4 = Aug 11 - 19 (with new testers being able to join on the 17th for the last weekend)
3 days downtime
Early access start Aug 23

So that post would confirm the 17th start they stopped registration yesterday

I'm not sure I'm understanding you correctly but:

The controversial link is for registration, which happens after you've applied and received a beta key.

I tend to agree with Jillybean. Phase 4 will likely start sooner than the 17th:

That is going to be a long wait IMO. My gut is telling me more around the 8th or 9th. Only time will tell.

A lie is an intentional deception. It's possible he made a mistake, was over-ruled by someone else, or met with unforseen circumstances. Any number of possibilities exist that could have changed the situation; I don't think it's fair to assume a lie.

I already said my piece on the Beta Tester Forums, mainly answering the question "but how are we supposed to provide testing and feedback if Open Beta starts that late?!" by explaining that Open Beta is more or less a demo/trial/early access, however you want to look at it, and that the main testing that companies tend to focus on during Open Beta is server stress testing.

However, I am quite enjoying all the "NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" that's erupting all over the forums. If the Open Beta date really isn't until the 17th...man oh man, I don't know if I can stomach reading the Beta Testing Forums until then. It'd be even more of a trainwreck than it already is...and quite frankly, we'd be moving into Beyond the Impossible territory there.

Because this is a stress test for the servers before going live nothing else. If you beta test something that runs on servers this is what they do in the finnal stage and always let everyone in that applies... This is exactly what was done when I did beta for xbox live.

I see. I've been on GW2 for the past two hours and haven't seen it change before then, and that was when I was watching like a hawk.

Also haven't seen it noted here, so figured it was recent. Oh well.

It's been that way for days. I couldn't register for P4 because it was after the 22nd.

Well at least we should get some answers on the 8th I would assume...

I hope the beta starts sooner then the 17th, I've been going nuts waiting for it already... and that's still another couple weeks away.

Posted this in another thread just now, updating this thread for anyone who has been following it for this topic:

Quote:
There's a possible promising sign that it's going to be sooner then the 17th... they changed that page that said the 17th so now it says the same thing as their normal reg page...

Compare:
https://secure.square-enix.com/account/app/svc/ffxivbetatop?rgn=en - Leaked page that had said August 17...

http://entry.ffxiv.com/beta/index_na.html - SE site for registration that said beta registration would re-open once P4 starts.

They both say the same thing now...

Im not saying he lied or anyone did. I was just pointing this out for those who do.
