I'm getting the PS3 CE - pricey. No way am I going to shell out more cha-ching to SE.

Now, if they were give free FURNITURE, like the beds they showed us, then I'd think about it.
Except for the mount, I'm really not interested in the other items (minions, minions and more minions).

Do the minons breed? I can see the cities being taken over by minos running everywhere. Are the minons smaller than Lala's?. If you have a tall character, I bet you won't be able to see a LaLa's minions.

Minons, no thanks. FURNITURE, yes please.

Keep in mind that paying for an extended subscription (rather than going month by month) will actually save you money in the long run since you're paying less per month. If you're not sure if you'll be playing FFXIV after a month or two, then it's risky to pay for a 3 or 6 month subscription up front. If I had to guess though, someone who invested in a CE is probably less likely to drop the game after only a month or two than someone who only bought the digital download no frills version of the game.

I'll be getting 2 minions to begin with. 30 days of free play with all the goodies I get from the prepaid CE, so I guess I'll have plenty of time to decide which payment plan I choose.

I'm not really sure what you mean bu this, but if you mean what I think you mean, lemme explain a little. The rewards will start, progress and end the same for each individual. For example, let's say you are required to go to work for 8 hours in a day. It doesn't matter when you go, just so you go for 8 hours. Every hour, you will be given a reward for every hour you stay. Now someone could have went an hour ahead of you, therefore, as you arrive, they will already be getting their first reward (a signed photo of Justin Beiber). After you have been there for an hour, you will now get the totally awesome photo, but the other guy will be getting his second reward, as he was there ahead of you (2 free bank slots in Neverwinter). You see, the rewards are progression based and not set in any time frame. Hope this helps explain it a little.

I understand how the system works just fine, my concern lies with it's extended use. What I am wondering is how they will continue with it in the long run. Are they only going to have a single year of rewards that once you have them you're done or will they continuously provide new incentives to keep subscribing. Then on top of that what happens when the game has been out for 10 years and someone new comes along? Will they have to play for another 10 years to get the new item that came out the month they started?

That's why I was thinking that they might discontinue rewards yearly and implement new ones constantly. This would make the items that we get here right after launch much more rare and awesome later down the line while still letting new players have a chance at obtaining cool new stuff that they come up with.

If i had to guess, I think they way they would do it would be to just make the time ramp up steadily and provide more valuable rewards. For example, maybe after 90 days, the next one would be 180 days, then maybe a year after that, etc. I doubt they will stay on the whole month to month basis going into the future. Possibly after it reaches the 6 month mark, it would stopped ramping up and stay at a steady rate of a reward every 6 months. This is all just speculation, but just speaking from a practicality viewpoint.
