Likewise, had there just been a "Game of Thrones reference" square, it would have been a free space. When I first started the beta, I braced myself for this generation of "Xxssj4darksephirothleonhartxx." Much to my surprise and great chagrin, referencing Game of Thrones is what's trending now. I swear, every fifth person I saw was named after a GoT character.


I know someone planning to name their baby Arya... its not just gaming


Arya is a pretty name, but damn...

They could just swap the r to an n and give their baby a perfectly normal first name.

The bingo board kind of makes me want to make a character named Mr Pig in reference to Pumba from The Lion King.

During phase 3 beta I ran an ifrit run with a friend and a couple whom were named "Prom Night" and "Dumpster Baby" I couldn't quit laughing it was great!

In XI I ran with some friends who had characters named "Husband" and "Wife". I thought it was pretty ingenious especially when they would shout at each other using auto-translate. Then I met their mules Myson and Minime.

Well, I must say I'm guilty of using video game character names (even plan on using two in FFXIV, eventually), but mine are usually obscure, in that only a handful of people would know/remember who they are. I always like giving the "nobodies" a new face.

However, being a Final Fantasy game, not just Sephiroth, but ANY Final Fantasy main hero/villain will probably be well-represented. Besides Sephy, I also expect to see a lot of Terra Branford and/or Celes Chere, a lot of Vincent Valentine, probably a few people named Onion Knight, a bunch of Snow Villiers/Lightning (wearing their outfits, naturally), probably a male Miqo'te named Red XIII...a Lalafell and a Miqo'te have a kid, who becomes Zidane Tribal... *cough*

I think "Whatchugunnadobout Mylongasscharname" has been the most original I've seen yet. Saw it in 1.0.

I'm gonna miss the beta, all those character names people knew they weren't going to keep.

My 1.0 char has an original name but there's a chance that my new char may not. I may use a last name from the Malazan book series. I doubt anyone would notice it anyway. I gave my P3 char the last name Delat.

I will prob end up making an alt with the name Roland Deschain if it hasn't already been claimed by then. That way he's all set up for whenever they release a gun class. Smiley: tongue
