Beta Test Phase 4 Schedule and Testing Details

Thank you for your participation in the beta test for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
We would like to take this moment to go over both the testing schedule and testing details for Beta Test phase 4.
It also contains various information regarding Beta Test phase 4 so please take a look before you participate in the test.

Dates and Times

Saturday, August 17, 9:00 a.m. to Monday, August 19, 9:00 a.m. (GMT)

However, users who fulfill any of the following requirements are eligible to participate starting from Friday, August 16, at 2:00 a.m. (PDT) / 9:00 a.m. (GMT):
Played Version 1.0

Testing Requests

Stress Testing on the Housing Zones

"Mist," the housing area in Limsa Lominsa, will be available for players to explore. Housing samples will be placed in the area for players to take a look at, so please explore the area. The development team will be tracking the server load in the background so feedback will not be necessary.

* The "Mist" housing area is accessible from Lower La Noscea.

Testing the Basic System of PvP
The PvP content, "The Wolves' Den," will be available for players to test. Once players complete the quest "Bowl of Embers," "The Wolves' Den" will be added to the duty finder and the PvP battles will be accessible. The development team will monitor the matching precision of the packets sent between the players and see how far of a distance they can successfully attack from, as well as the server load in the background. Therefore, feedback will not be necessary.

* PvP-specific actions will be unavailable.
* Since the requirement to enter "The Wolves' Den" is level 30 and above, only the players who have transferred character data from Version 1.0 are eligible to participate.
* Please see here for more details on the testing in "The Wolves' Den."

* Housing areas and PvP content will be implemented in patch 2.1.

In the event that testers are asked to test additional content, separate notifications will be sent.

Testing Scope

Please refer to the Beta Test Scope for more information.

Test Worlds

For phase 4, the following worlds will be made available. The character data from Beta Test phase 4 will be carried over to the official release version. Once you select a world, you will be unable to change it, so if you are planning to carry over the character data from phase 4, please select the world you are planning to play on in the official release version.

Group NA/EU (North America/Europe Data Center)

Balmung (LEGACY) / Excalibur (LEGACY) / Hyperion (LEGACY) / Sargatanas (LEGACY) / Ragnarok (LEGACY)* / Adamantoise / Behemoth / Cactuar / Cerberus(*) / Coeurl / Goblin / Malboro / Moogle(*)
Ultros / Diabolos / Gilgamesh / Leviathan / Midgardsormr / Odin(*) / Shiva(*)

* Ragnarok / Cerberus / Moogle / Odin / Shiva are recommended for players in the European time zones. Please note this is a recommendation only; players from other regions are free to play on these servers.
* Brand new characters can also be created on the LEGACY worlds.

When selecting a World after creating a character, clicking Group NA/EU at the top right of the screen will display a list of worlds available for the North America/Europe region.

Transferring Character Data from Version 1.0

After logging in, clicking World Selection at the character selection screen will now display a list of Worlds including Legacy Worlds. Selecting a World with Version 1.0 character data will display any characters available on said World. For users who have applied for a world transfer, which was held along with the establishment of the data centers in the region outside of Japan, the character data has now been transferred to your destination world.

Please try selecting your 1.0 characters and confirm your character data has been transferred correctly.

Please note that due to a number of system changes, certain items can no longer be used or their attributes may have changed. Also, the methods for obtaining certain items and unlocking certain features may have also changed. Please review the following topics for more details on these changes:
Transferring Character Data to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Changes to Existing Items and the Monetary System in FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn
Should you encounter an issue with character transfer, please send a report through the support center (NA/EU).

Changing the Appearance of the Characters from Version 1.0
As announced in the past, the graphics engine has been completely redesigned in FFXIV: ARR and players from Version 1.0 will receive a one-time opportunity to change the race, appearance, Nameday, Guardian and character name of their existing character(s).

Starting from the Beta Test phase 4, players will be able to make this change when they log into the game with a character transferred from Version 1.0.
Please note that if the change has been made during the Beta Test phase 4, you will be unable to make a new change in both Early Access and the official launch.

Customer Support

Full customer support, including in-game GM support, will be available as of phase 4.

Login Restrictions

When the login server is heavily congested, testers may receive the following error message when attempting to log in to a world:

"This World is currently full. Players in queue: XX"

This message will also indicate the number of players waiting to log in. In the event you receive this error message, please wait until you are automatically logged in to the world.

Also, depending on the circumstances, we may restrict the number of players allowed to log in to a world. In the event login restrictions are put in place, testers may receive the following error message:

"This World is currently full. Please wait until an opening is available and try again."

In the event you receive this error message, please try logging in at a later time.

Submitting Bug Reports

If you encounter any bugs, please post a detailed description in the Bug Reports sub-forum.

* Please be aware that bug reports can only be filed during the indicated testing periods. For more information, read how to file a bug report.

Please note that the "/stuck" command, which was available up until Beta Test phase 3, is no longer available. If your character happens to get stuck in the landscape, please make a GM call instead.

Honestly, I find that to be such a stupid move. "OH HEY, let's let everyone who's ALREADY had a chance to play, get a head start on everyone else who hasn't!"

Amen. I haven't participated in any of the tests so far, voluntarily, but once I realized the open beta would be so short, I was beginning to think I may have been too principled about that. At least I'll have one more day.

Good news for many people for sure!

Unless I'm missing something, there seems to be a potential here for 1.0 players to lose their 1.0 character name.

I vaguely recall they said somewhere that 1.0 names were available only to the original character for a certain amount of time? But with all the world transfers, this may be hectic. Hopefully with all the Surnames, no one will be completely shafted.

I was wondering if this means any 1.0 user who didnt put a beta code into there account could also play on the 16th? or just ones who have put beta codes in. Just seemed odd to add it to the list there.

Not really sure, the OP didn't make it clear whether the 1.0/Legacy players needed to register for anything.

All 1.0 owners were already in the phase 3 beta. If you were in phase 3, you are already in to join phase 4 on the 16th

A little confused on this statement...

Unless there happens to be a critical bug, both character data and the game data from beta test phase 4 will be carried over to Early Access and the official release version.

Well, more like I wanted clarification. Does this mean the aside from the character creation model, the in-game items and name chosen for that character will be saved for all characters created during Phase 4 and carried into Early Access?

DUDE I am a Legacy Campaign 1.0 player, did not register for anything, betas/early access nada, after I quit in 2012.

I followed that link to download the beta and I was able to access the game, to my huge surprise I could access the game today!

Exactly, some people were under impression even legacy players needed to be in a beta at least to have early access. I still can't register for service though.
