Serial Code invalid?Follow

A friend of mine just pre-ordered ARR from the SE store. When we went to put in the serial code that SE emailed to her, we're getting an "invalid code" error. We've tried multiple different times, but just can't seem to get her game registered to her SE account.

What steps should we be taking to ensure this gets resolved? We tried to put in a support ticket, but there wasn't even a category that would cover something like this. Is this a known problem? Are we just doing it wrong? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I don't think we're doing it wrong. I registered my game to my account just fine following the same procedure.

As far as I know, registration for the game itself is not yet open. That's why you're not yet able to put a support ticket in for this. The only codes available to input now are the PS Store promotional codes being sent out for the open beta client. On August 20th, we'll be able to register pre-order codes to our accounts for the in-game items. I assume what you're trying to do won't be available until the 27th. The game is not out yet. There's no need to register it to your account yet.

I thought that might be the issue. What bothers me about it, though. Is that I was able to register my game on my account already.

Either I made a boo-boo, something's wrong with her code, or the website is just being strange.

When you pre-order the game from the SE store, they send you an email with a serial code in it. I registered that serial code on the website in my link, and it worked right away. Hers is just saying "invalid code". If this isn't anything but just a weird coincidence, then that's fine. I just want to make sure we're both able to play the game during Early Access and on release day.

There were threads about this a few weeks back. When some PS3 users tried to do the same thing, it showed the registered product as "PC" for the platform instead of PS3. I think they may have taken this registration option down to do some maintenance for the time being.

I pray that's what's going on right now.

Seems like bad things always happen to me and my crew. =/

I just pre-ordered the collector's digital download version of the game too. The download button only contains an instructional pdf and when trying to register the game, it also gave me an error of invalid code. I'm lost as to if this is normal. I'd like to have the game downloaded and installed so I can play in the early release as that's what the pre-purchase promised.

As odd as this is going to sound, this is actually good news for both of us that your code is getting the invalid error. It means that SE is doing something with their registration system.

As for downloading the game, no one can do that yet. You can get the launcher, but it's set to stay in maintenance mode until Friday. You won't have access to download the game until then.

Thank you for letting me know that my friend wasn't the only person having an issue.

Just a suggestion, if you are using a PS3 controller to input the code using the PS3 pop-up keyboard, be advised that pressing the Start button to exit out of the pop-up keyboard will put an additional space at the end of whatever you input.

To avoid this, manually select the pop-up keyboard's Start button by arrowing down to it, instead of using the controller's Start button. You can also delete the space manually before you hit X or Start to exit the pop-up keyboard. I am surprised that this issue has not been fixed with the PS3 pop-up keyboard years ago, but it's worth mentioning if you are getting the invalid code error.

I'll check back on the registration tomorrow and post any new findings I have in the future. Thanks for the quick reply and it's reassuring to know that perhaps something may be done.

On another note, would you mind if I join your crew once the game is released? I'm looking for a group of people to play with once the game starts, as strength in numbers is usually the case in mmorpgs. I have raidcall, mumble, ventrilo, and teamspeak.

I'm in that boat as well, glad to know it's a widespread issue and nothing that affects just me. On the other hand, my buddy had no issues registering his game code after he preordered his CE.

Go figure..

(Both of us are PC versions)

So until a few hours ago, I have FF XIV registered in my Squeenix profile. Now it's gone and it won't accept my 18 digit code. What's the deal with that?

Hope this helps. It sounds like they're not accepting any codes prior to the 20th so until then there shouldn't be too much worry.

This is on the PC. On the SE website.

We were trying to register her serial code that she got in her email after pre-ordering the PC collector's Edition.

Hey, it appears the same thing just happened to me. I believe we'll all have to wait until Tuesday to register our codes again. This is good news, though. It apparently never was an issue with our codes. It's SE making sure they have the registration system working properly.

I'll go with that theory, and it answers one of my questions in the thread I made.
