Forget being stuck at work... I MAY NEVER GET TO PLAY FFXIV ARR!!!

Wifey not to thrilled about me going back to playing final fantasy... I was not so great at managing my time with FFXI nor FFXIV 1.0 and I pretty much left some hefty scars emotionally that we've since been blessed to overcome. But none the less... I may just have to kiss my gaming life goodbye. Have you ever wished you could keep what you know about the past but change it? Well that's how I feel about playing FFXI... wish I could go back and smack myself REAL HARD and warn old marty... err I mean jayfly about time and family management.

Get your wife to play, and spend time with her in game. That's about the sum of it. If she can't tolerate your passions there's a deeper problem there than time management.

Make it something shared, you do something she's interested in and wants to introduce you to, she shares playing FFXIV with you. If you both go along with it, it will bring you closer together. Give it a shot.

Well you have excellent self discipline to be at home working and not give into temptation. I myself have great physical distance to separate myself from my PS3, a fact that I appreciate. Smiley: schooled

RL > Games - you have to do what you have to do...

I had to learn a balance years ago when I played FFXI... it's not easy sometimes because we get into these games so heavily they become a part of us... but if you don't balance you can lose everything so....

Definitely take care of your family, then log in when you are able. You'll find it rewarding when you do get to play.

Hope this helps. I went through this myself.

Fortunately, I love my job!

Got to work an hour early, so I can get home an hour sooner. In the meantime, going to do some writing and Web work, and going to attend my hardcore lunchtime workout.

Come 4 p.m. PST, I'll head home and launch my new character. I'm stoked!

I've got (7 to 4), (8 to 5), and (9 to 6) options without notification or penalty. I try to get to work at 7 so really I'm never late. Pretty awesome actually.

Starting to wish I was at work, 5 1/2 hours now, and best I've done it 3rd in queue before disconnected from server, every other attempt is met with disconnected from game server. Was kind of expecting this , hopefully I will get in before the day is over.

Being in a relationship with a gamer has done wonders for me. We basicly feed off each other when it comes to excitment for a new game or a patch is whatever MMO we are playing. The key thing is, we play together when we can and we make it a point to spend time together IRL doing things like shopping, dinner, catching a movie or simply being together while we both read books that we are currently enjoying.

Someday the depressing Nursing Home scene is going to be replaced by our generation of happy old retired gamers just MMO'ing their way to a happy end of life. Food thru an IV, just **** when ever you need to. "One sec, bio.. ok rdy."

Woke up at four, finally got in around five, and almost made it to level 8 before I had to leave for work. It's worse now that I played it. I really should have called in today...

I would kill for a flexible schedule like that. What makes it worse is that my work is totally independent from anyone else, I could be home and work just as efficiently. But not only will the top guys not allow us to work from home, they won't even let us have flexible schedules. At least I get out early on Fridays in the summer, even if it's only a little.

I love my job as well, it's super flexible(similar to Valkayree), so I could start my CNJ this morning, dump it in a sanctuary, and then go to work :)
