There was voice acting in the opening cinima on mine including during P3. Maybe your speakers are unplugged?

The narrator had a deep voice. I even had my volume down and heard it.

I'm talking about the unskippable scenes like the wagon ride to Gridania or the boat ride to Limsa Lominsa. They're totally boring and I thought they would be voiced.

I know that there's dialogue boxes but I thought they would do it like Tales games do where the voice starts as you press confirm for each text box.

Oh well. I guess a LOT less of the game will be voiced than I hoped.

the VO in Star Wars got old after about 5 mins...I'm not too worried about it.

wouldn't they just be copying another MMO if they did more voice acting Killua?

I've had 4 cut scenes with voice over so far, and they've been the important ones. That's more then enough for me at this point. They don't need to have voice acting on every damn pointless fetch quest to boot.

You paint a bullseye on your face and then cry that people are taking shots at you?

Sorry but FFXI was old and it's excusable but it's 2013 and they're trying to make these action packed cutscenes where the voices are moving and no sound is coming out... it's weird.

Pretty much nothing is voiced.

The action cutscenes I've been in so far as a THM are VO so not sure what you mean.

I'm not "crying", I just sorta figured people would agree with me on this. The total lack of voice was jarring. I know that a couple of scenes are voiced but 99% of the game isn't. I guess I just thought more of the game would be voiced.

I hate to go back to the openings again but for example, that's the very first thing new players are going to experience, and it's totally dull. No voice. I'm pretty sure the openings in 1.0 were voiced.

Now? In Limsa Lominsa, pirates attack, but nothing happens. No battle, no drama. Pirates attack and then suddenly, "Phew, we're safe!" The no voice just makes it even worse.

I didn't mind the no VO in wow tera star trek eve online I won't mind it in FF xiv as well. I personally don't give a rats a@@ for VO in an MMO. Of course others it seems they do.

This is still the beta, its possible that the first scene voice acting wont come until EA or release, but I am just speculating. Who really knows :p

Yeah I'm not the only person who's disappointed.

I think the reason is because the gameplay is such standard MMO gameplay and the saving grace is supposed to be the Final Fantasy story/lore stuff and yet they didn't even bother to voice most of the story or the opening.

So I think a lot of people feel mislead because we thought the whole story would be voiced.

Star trek online (that I started playing about a week ago btw) is awesome but the VA it has is almost 0. Ok it has some but not a lot of it. Wow I don't even believe it has ANY VA and as for tera from the little I played a while back I believe there is 0 VA as well. Though feel free to correct me.

Eve online has -10 VA since there aren't quests the way any other MMO has them.

I am not saying I wouldn't like it if it had some more or w/e but really I don't care at all if it doesn't have.

Unless my memory is SERIOUSLY messed up (and it's been a while) then WoW does have voice acting. I know for a fact that TERA's story is voiced.

But if we're not comparing to other games, I'm just disappointed because I feel like the voice acting was being showed off and I thought the VA would be a big deal but it seems there's only small bits and pieces and they're not even done well (in English anyway)... 99% of the game has no voice acting at all.

Tera has voiceover on certain milestones, but that's about it. I'm with the OP on this one though. While I didn't expect every little side quest to be voiced, I thought they'd at least do the main story quests and maybe even the class quests. Currently, with the little that is in, it just throws everything off. Probably would be better to have none at all than to be playing for a half an hour in silence then all of a sudden 2 mins of voice, then back to silence for the next three hours. I'm not complaining, mind you. Just making an observation.

Well from what I hear wow had indeed some VO but from what I hear all of them had very limited VO. With the exception of Eve that has 0 for sure (and I am dead sure for that!) and yet eve was my fav of all times.

Anyway to come back on topic. I wouldn't say no to some more but as I said I don't care as well. I want my single player games to have yes I hated dragon age 1 for not having. But an MMO? Nah I don't really care.I mean I would kept hitting next....next and not listen to it. I know from friends that while they were really excited with the VO from SWTOR they got bored of it real fast.

As for the intro where you are heading towards your city....I would want to be left out or be able to skip it entirely I don't like it and a VO wont do it any good IMO.
