Then it worries me more, cuz now ppl is happy that they lvl fast and don't need to grind exp like XI or other games do, what will happen when ppl feel that to lvl 20-50 is a chore? I like ZAM cuz ppl really responds posts, in beta forums is a lot of hatters/white knights stuff, no valid points there really. I like the game, I have my V1.0 CE and gonna play it, I want it to be succesful, want to made memories, thing I did in XI and XIV 1.23. Maybe these betas are too short to feel that but my worries are there.

There will always be players that see the leveling experience as a chore or a grind. But the fact of the matter is that so far, up to level 20, it feels incredibly fluid. The pacing is spot on if you ask me. It took me about 6-7 hours to hit level 18. That sounds just about perfect to me. With the curve getting considerably higher at higher levels, I think it will take some more time, but nothing outrageous like in FFXI, and that is a good thing imo. I wouldn't be too worried about it. There is PLENTY to do in the game, and leveling all classes to cap will take quite a long time for most players. By then, more classes/jobs and endgame content will be released.

I got all my battle classes topped off to 20 except Arcanist which I got up to 18. I just needed to level Pugilist, Marauder, and Lancer though. I got my weaver topped off to 20 as well and worked on some fishing to 10.

Mostly I wanted to get the class quests done up to my level for all my classes and get the Main quest as far as they would let me take it. Mission Accomplished.

I had some issues with this in P3. What I did was make a few assist macros to get around it. Assist causes you to target the enemy of the party member that you're assisting.
  • Macro 1: /assist <2>
  • Macro 2: /assist <3>
  • Macro 3: /assist <4>
Since light parties generally have one tank, you only need to carry one of these macros. I made an empty macro set that could only be selected by R1+button to hold the unused ones. Whenever I needed to change the macro, I could switch to that set and use the select edit function to swap it out with the other. As a DPS in Duty Finder, the tank is usually in the third party slot. In that case, you'll want to use the /assist <3> macro. It helps if you change the icons to numbers so you know what's what.

Edit: To make it less confusing.

There are threads for the bugs during beta and you are free to discuss them there. When you bring it up in threads where we aren't discussing them (such as this one) it annoys me. We get it, you're mad, lets keep it there and out of other threads.

You're assuming the XP curve is linear, it's not. It's exponential.

Not sure if this is still accurate but it's probably close (it's correct for level 20 I know).

For reference in fishing, from lvl 19-20, you need 51k. I just dinged 19 before I logged out and saw that number and thought it will finally start slowing up a bit. Can't wait to start hearing the TNL chat. :)

I got a lot of work done! I was surprised, actually. I REALLY wanted to get past Ifrit so I could go anywhere on launch and not be tied down to the story. Left the turn in for opening day though. No sense in wasting more XP than necessary, right?

Once you get used to running in circles, there's a few FATE circles you can run to grind out some serious EXP. I'm not sure if FATES will spawn at that same rate as during the beta (They should), but if they do, I'll set up a 1-20 leveling guide that should work for any DoW/DoM. If you time it right, you can level up with some serious speed. Gathering still takes a while though, and crafting I'm still debating whether it's worth the time to HQ or not.

Accomplished pretty much all my goals. Would have liked to hit 20 on GSM to start making materia, but oh well. Got through Tam Tara on MRD before capping XP, so I will be doing Copperbell and Ifrit in EA on Saturday most likely.

Wow nice!!!

I still need copperbell and ifrit too, maybe we can grab a couple more folks from the LS and run those on Saturday! It's my birthday so... that would be an awesome birthday present :)

Oh you're Meat Mithkabob! I remember seeing you walking around when I was out mining. I was like, "That's an awesome name." I've seen a few XI reference names so far.

Copperbell was significantly easier than I thought it would be. The slime wasn't all that hard and the adds that try to kill the bombs were easy and few in number. Now, when Don Fletcher (Frozen Sherbet) told us all to zerg the final boss and dont worry about the guys beating on the walls, I was a little panicked, especially when there were 10 on screen. But about that time the zerging kicked in and we made it through. Cool experience Smiley: nod

We had a death, but still won. The player was raised before the final coffer was opened. In general with FATES and Dungeons targeting mobs hasn't improved much. I tried some macros and guess they were the wrong one's.

Targeting as a mage is ok, I didn't have too many problems, but when I switched over to pugilist i would accidentally click on other players in FATEs and accidentally invite them to a party because mobs were dying so fast and I was in the thick of battle. By the time I would target it would be dead and auto target a player. I remember gnu's targeting post having some information about being able select a feature that allowed you to target enemies only with a controller but for the life of me I couldn't remember what it was when I was playing.

As THM, I would often need to target the enemy that was not being targeted by the tank, so I would sleep it. I need a macro for that!

Related to that, I've been meaning to ask you, when we ran the dungeons, it was either you or someone else who put the numbers over the enemies heads so we would know who to attack first (and so I could sleep the #2 Smiley: schooled). How did you do that?

I'm surprised some people in this thread got as much done as they say they did considering how much time they spent complaining about everything...

Me I got my Retainer and Archer to 20, Pugilist to like 9 and did a lot of little quests and tried to fill out my hunting log... but I think the Archer Hunting log is bugged. Shows 100% complete but also missing one kill while saying all mobs are complete ^.~

Pretty sure it was a beta thing. All classes got 9/10 on the second hunting log, so I think they only gave access to the first 2 but didn't want you to go any farther until EA.

Really only had Saturday est. to play. Pretty much followed my p3 game plan by starting off as pug. Difference was I stopped short of diving into the first three dungeons and started leveling LNC. Made it to level 11 or 12 before the night life kicked in. Ready to try LNC in those dungeons and take it to my first job cap.

Archer and Gladiator both from up from 1 to 20, and unlocked all jobs and turned in all my crafting & class quests for all jobs. I picked about 5 levels on 3-4 newbie jobs and added a couple of points to my crafting skills but not much. I didn't stop to take my fisherman out because he was already 20+ and I hope that fishing will not "have an insignificant impact on the economy" as stated because that was one of the few things that I did enjoy in v1.0 and loved it in FFXI.

I was disappointed though because luckily while I didn't experience any 3102 or 90000 errors, I must have crashed to windows a good 15-20x during the weekend. I have yet to figure out the cause either. It didn't seem to be a bad video card driver and I wasn't lagging out. It never happened in dungeons but seemed to happen nearly every time I rode a chocobo porter or teleported/returned.
