How long ago did you preorder?

I have a friend who is running into the same problem...

SE has certainly designed a beautiful game, but this silly stuff shouldn't be happening anymore.

I've had some people cancel their pre-order and do a new one and it work.. depending on where you did your pre-order.

Ya if you get error 3, simply resubmitting isn't gonna help, you need to refresh the page. Control +F5

I'm having the same problems with my PC pre-order. I've done all the workarounds and I've tried using ctrl F5 with no luck. I do have the code entered and working for my PS3 copy though, so at least I'll get to play on that if I have to. I just wish I could figure out why it isn't working on my PC.

now when I go to user setting to set my language I get a bad gateway error and it sends me back to the home page. It sucks SE cant do simple things right and they have to make it such a pain to actually play their games but I think ill cancel preorder and see how things go over the next few days and just play with my 1.0 copy

I have had the same trouble. I ordered the PC digital Download from the SE store. Low and behold I was getting the same Error 3 message. Just for Ghits and Siggles I ran it under PS3 after tring for about an hour or better (followed all the fixes for PC too.), and it was a PS3 code. Yay me I have a PS3 code so now I get to redownload the game on my PS3. If you are getting the Error 3 code, you could always try this.

So I tried this and it worked immediately, problem is I don't have nor do I intend to ever have this game on PS3. Is there any way for me to get this code to apply to the account I will be playing on pc or am I just boned?

I've contacted SE support via email, and have yet to hear anything in response. Knowing how most customer service goes, I would probably say you are screwed unless you can contact them over the phone and have all your account, and order information. Then its probably 50/50.

I did find this post http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/63664-Guys-be-aware!-For-early-access...?p=1031291&viewfull=1#post1031291 from Bayohne that says you can play on both pc and PS3 using one pre-order code. From some digging around it seems like if you just go through with the registration and download on a PS3 as long as you log in using your pc credentials you can link the two platforms together and play the same character from a single account on either one.

from http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/678051-final-fantasy-xiv-online-a-realm-reborn/67018368
"It is possible to play with the same account on both Windows and PlayStation 3 platforms. Customers who own a copy of FFXIV for Windows and wish to use their account on the PlayStation 3 version will need to purchase a copy of the PlayStation 3 version. It will then be possible to use your characters on either platform by tying your existing service account to the PlayStation 3 version upon launching it for the first time. Similarly, customers who own a copy of FFXIV for PlayStation 3 and wish to use their account on the Windows version will need to purchase a copy of the Windows version. However, please note that your account will only be able to log into one platform at a time."

Since the pre-order is basically a limited trial and allows for a fully functioning download of the game it should in theory work (i hope!).

I'm downloading the PS3 early access now, once thats done we'll see if it works!

If you do this remember to link your accounts. I am tring this too. Looks like I wont be in right on time though. 80min left for download, unless it will work without me completing the download on PS3, one can only hope.

How to fix Error 3:

1) Go to http://preorder.na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ normally and select a language.
2) Log in.
3) When at the "Input code screen" > Click your newly made account now at the top right and select "User Settings"
4) Change your info that is most likely incorrect, making sure to change your language preference.
5) Go back to the link (do not press back, reload the page)
6) You should now be able to input your code.

This worked for me and everyone I know.

Is there a special process to go through to link the accounts? I just got ea installed on the PS3, kind of playing it by ear now.

Same site that you logged in to register the code. Under Profile, or settings, cant remember at the moment. Should beable to link. As of this moment though its not letting me log in through PC. Might have to access it through PS3 first. I will find out in 11 min or so.

I just fully downloaded and installed the game on PS3 then entered my pc version login credentials and it prompted me to link my accounts. My square-enix account is now linked to my playstation network one, it pretty much did it all for me. After doing this it brought me to the launcher where it wanted to start downloading patches. With things looking pretty ready to go on the PS3 I ran over to the computer where I have everything updated and logged in there on the pc. Using the early access code on PS3 was kind of a pain in the bottom but it appears to have worked correctly as I am able to log in on my pc using the ps3 code!

Spread the word to any who may still be experiencing this issue. If you own a PS3 and are having problems with error 3 when registering your ea code give it a shot.
