Question About "Full" ServersFollow

So I have a number of friends who are starting to play and we all hoped to play on the same server... so I somewhat selfishly asked them to come to Excalibur. A few have been able to make characters over Phase 4/this morning, but a lot keep getting the Full message.

I guess my question is, are these servers really at capacity or does SE just not allow new character creation on them during periods of high congestion? Anyone know how all this works?

They're trying to balance out the servers. They'll stop creation on some so that people make them on others. They open them up again when they even out.

Do you know if there is anything equivalent to a World Pass that I can purchase to get my friends on?

There isn't.

You'll have to move to play with your friends, or wait days to weeks.

My server has been locked since the beginning of phase 4 and it still is.

A few of them unblocked for a short time today. I was able to create a new character on Hyperion this afternoon.

Just be patient and keep checking ^^

I had the same problem during Phase 4. I had a few new players join me on Excalibur as well and it just took some time. Keep at it. They should be able to join you soon enough.

Hello, this is FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer and Director, Yoshida.

The maximum expected population limit is nearing for each World, and unless the current World simultaneous connection amount decreases, we are unable to open release the limitation.

In case we do release the limitation, there is a high chance that the corresponding World will crash or cause issues, and we are thinking that it will be difficult for us to release it for a while. We please ask you to consider playing in a World that has a low limitation.

We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause and ask to continue with your cooperation.

This is ridiculous.

I can tell you what will happen Tuesday... I'll be pissed, cancel my sub and not play Smiley: laugh

SE must not have had numbers to show how many would be in EA (could I even still get in EA, if I went and pre-ordered now? or was there a cut off for EA? Cuz PO should be good until Monday night? I just want goodies :p) and be ready for the servers to overload :p

SE needs to add servers and provide an incentive for people to move off current servers (gil?) (in game item?) (personal thanks of yoshi-p?).

Even getting 1-2 large Free Companies per server to change servers could make a difference. The one I'm in has like 150 people in it, and we're all there because of each other. But I'd only move my legacy account if my FC moved too.

My alt I'd move if most of my ffxi friends moved too. Harder to evaluate.

Where were you at Wow's release? On many servers it was weeks before ppl get consistently get online and play. Swtor had Queues hours and hours long at launch. Issues like this are more the rule than the exception. Buying/renting more server hardware isn't an answer, because things like this generally come down to coding for expected traffic. If they go and buy more hardware and then a few weeks from now things have eased off, they've got a bunch of excess investment in unused hardware. Investors don't let that happen. There is only so much control the studio actually has in cases such as this.

Point being, put on the big boy pants and grow up a little bit. be patient. you don't always get things just the way you want them right out the gate.
