Well, you know the solution would honestly be less people. That's the immediate root cause of this problem.

Don't want to deal with the login queues and the lockouts? Don't play for a while. I've said this before, but this bears repeating, this seems more like a hardware issue than a software one, and it's likely not feasible to quickly solve this problem, given the gigantic demand SE has been saddled with.

We can complain, or we can be patient. Either way it reflects nothing on the actual game substance and content and everything to do with the fact that demand is incredibly higher than the supply at the moment.

We don't set Game Stop/Sony/Microsoft on fire for not having enough PS4s and XBoxOnes on the shelves, nor should we do so to SE for servers who are buckling under overload.

I agree it's obviously not something they can just throw money at, or you'd think they would have done that by now, if for no other reason than to give their staff a respite. However, we should be able to choose when we login, this should not be dictated for us because of our chosen MMO company's (in)competence. I can tolerate queues or having growing pains, but providing no long-term solution that's noticeable by the majority of our server cluster after 9 days of the same issues repeating themselves over and over is not how they're going to win people's hearts. I will stick with the game, personally because I love what i've experienced, but there are a great deal of people out there who don't give a whit one way or the other.

I digress...there's little point in rehashing the same. Moving on.

Right now, the need for less people excuse can work but once the official launch comes up and everyone that has paid to play for a month of service is going to be expected to log in. If they cannot, can you really tell them that they need to go do something else and waste all that time they paid for?

I know you are trying to look at the brighter side of things and I totally understand. It was expected for there to be some kind of issue with the game so close to launch. But if this really is a hardware related issue then that will not be a quick fix either. It takes a lot of time and money to get a new server running. The fact that this poor game already has bad enough rep on it could also be causing the limitation of findings for more servers/better kinds of servers. It also brings up a question on the game stability itself. Even with the best possible servers around, just how many people can a single server hold while running this game? If that number isn't very high, then the cost for upkeep may end up outweighing how much is gained. But I am sure SE is well aware of this and are trying their best to make a final judgement on the matter.

On one final note, unless a system is pre-ordered and the money is not refunded when the system is not available, then I fail to see the comparison in this event. When you buy a system, at least it is yours to use at any point and time you want it. If you pay for a monthly subscription that states that the time will not be refunded if you do not get a chance to play, then you are going to get far more upset at that product.

Anyway, I will keep an open mind at least a week after open launch. Right now we are technically playing the game for free and we don't have a lot of room to complain until then. However, when that time comes, if things are not fixed, it might start looking a little grim. Until then, I think it would be best if we all make JP server alts. What say you?

We also dont pay Game Stop/Sony/Microsoft and then they notify us that they dont have enough. We have already paid SE.

It occurred to me that they may actually be planning to add additional servers tomorrow for launch, but they haven't been able to add them yet because... well, if they aren't in a data center that rents them the servers, they had to do a major scramble to acquire another 100K or so worth of hardware on such short notice. There are very few cities where you can buy big irons off the shelf, or even with less than 48 hours notice. For all we know, HP or Dell are dropping off giant boxes at the data center via FedEx this morning.

We'll see tomorrow!
