I don't know about you guys, but I wish there was a better recommended duties section.
Stuff like "Show only..." :
Main scenario, Grand Company, Job quest
Level specific quests (your level or -5 from current level, since apparently you can start quests that are a higher level but can turn them in)
Unlock quest
The unlock quests are a biggies imho. Stuff like the chocobo companion, armor dye, materia melding, jobs/classes you can currently unlock but haven't. I shouldn't have to google "when do i get my companion / where is the chocobo minion".
It might be a good idea to start a 'guide' here with a list of all of the obscure unlock quests.

Most of the "unlock" quests are a part of the main storyline: chocobos, airship pass, Grand Companies, etc. While there are some like Materia and Dying that aren't, I don't see it as a particular hardship that there be some mystery in the game...or incentive to communicate, "Oh, I haven't seen armor that kind of yellow from quests, where did you get it?" Most of the time if you keep your eyes open you'll stumble across them, or find a breadcrumb that will lead to you it.
As for the Recommended list, it's a list of quests and options you have at the time. Do you suggest there's time you start the game and it doesn't have anything on the list because you've unchecked everything?

No the recomended list just lists quests in your current area that you can do.
It doesn't really say "hey this is a level 1 quest and your 14"
It doesn't say "Level 15, Job quest unlocked"
To me a recommended quest list is just that, a list of quests that at my level should be recommended to do. I dont wanna do level 1 quests at 15, and I dont wanna do a level 20 quest that i can start but cant hand in until 20.

The list is there to recommend things to get you started, not to be efficient. Perhaps one day they will weight the list, greyscaling text for lower level quests or somesuch. It's not meant to guide you literally, it's meant to remind you where you have objectives--this it does in its current version.
As for level 20 quests that you can't turn in until 20, read the quest text before you accept them.

FF14 ARR is trying hard to play catch up and add all the features other recent mmo's have and recommended duties was thrown in literally at beta 4, so I know they didn't test it much.
Why recommend a quest you can't complete for 3 more levels? Why even let you accept a quest, do every step of it, and then say you can't turn it in for the reward because it is a level 20 quest and you are only 17?
Why recommend a quest that is 10+ levels below you?
Why only recommend quests in your current zone, when you can open the map and see all of them anyways?
They are obvious flaws and things I hope they address moving forward, but as they stand now, its not really work checking recommended duties over just opening the map.
