Nothing wrong with crying especially when you're passionate over something.

It's ok if everything doesn't go perfect, it's ok if you fail.

What matters is, what you do after that.

I don't like all the directions Yoshi has taken. But you can't deny all the hardwork the team put in getting to this point.

I want to give kudos to the entire team. It's been a terribly long time since I found leveling up a job in a mmo fun! I'm very happy that boss fights are not tank and spank.

This was exactly what I was thinking while watching the video. From what I have seen so far, I tip my hat to the ENTIRE FFXIV team, right down to the receptionists and janitors. I would love to be playing right now, but I'm getting that pesky error code.,.. It's not going to ruin my outlook on the game as I know they will get the issue fixed.I'd also like to thank the OP. I seriously doubt his intentions were good for posting the video, but it really showed me how passionate Yoshida is for this game.

Video of a crying Yoshi.

Just outta curiosity, how did you know he's apologizing for servers. Regardless, I've said before and I'll say again.... he's done an amazing job. He broke his *** getting XIV to the point it's at today and SE had better realize what they've got; not just in Yoshi, but everyone who worked on this.

Except whoever made the decision about servers. He or she should be flailed wildly about the head and shoulders with a smelly, wet fish.

Maybe cuz he understands japanese. I speak japanese as well and yes he did apologies for servers. One of the first things addressed in the speech.

I have no idea what Yoshi is saying, but I know exactly what he is saying. Does that make any sense?? lol! I love this video, thank you for sharing killua.

Keep politics out of this guys. As much as I know people would love to respond (myself included), this isn't the forum for that.

A good place for Rush is The Asylum. For discussion, I mean... in a forum!

Go here!

All I did was link the video. I thought you guys would want to see. What's so bad about that?

I think it's nice that he's showing that much emotion. I think it shows that he really cares about his game.

I don't think you're as bad as some say. You're working on your temperament. Start a new account, with a new e-mail address, never post on Killua again, and be positive on your new account. Problem solved.

*shrug*, maybe. I don't want to be bullied into that. I don't have anything against anyone here, but if they all hate me, I don't mind. I can still participate in discussions.

Just being a fan isn't enough to belong here, I guess.

Killua, I'm going to say this to you because it seems that no one ever has.

Nobody likes a smartass. Fan or not.

I don't feel like I act like a smartass. 99% of my comments are directed at the game itself. I usually don't even address the other members here.

I don't get it. I have favorite games, and I can still criticize them. I still love them. It seems like with people here, the only way to truly love a game is if you can't find any faults with it. *shrug* My brain doesn't work that way

From here on out is the beginning of the speech
I'm tearing up guys.
First of all I want to say that I sorry for having to going into maintenance of the NA/EU servers. I want to apologize for taking precious time away from players during early access. From here on out is a long journey/ starts to tear up, crowd gives encouragement Its almost been 3 years since I took over development for FFXIV.
At the time I hadn't been involved with the game that much and thought that it wouldn't be that big of a deal. I've always loved final fantasy and have always loved mmo's starts to tear up again. At the time, I gathered the team together and told them that we were going to remake the game just two days before we announced it to all of you on December 2nd.
I still remember it now, but at the time, we were in a studio like this one, and Souken (current director of game music) was in the background checking my mic levels. I clearly remember him standing there give me a guts pose (one fist in the air, think rocky) but at the time I had the same kind of worries as the players; how is this really going to turn out?... Isn't this going to be impossible.... pauses
But one by one I got support from all of you. It was said in the questions earlier, but normally an mmo takes 4-5 years to create and carefully plan. Earlier, Wada said his role is a tank. I had the same idea of being a tank when making this game. Up until now I have gone through each facet of the game (implies that he also bore all of the responsibility).
But I am not saying that it is just me who made FFXIV ARR. This was all due to the players around the world, the core staff here, and the hundreds of staff not here today. I came here today planning on not crying, but today we have final taken the first step with ffxiv arr. And it is only the first step. Honestly I don't think we have any time to rest. We are working on patches and expansions.
More than anything I want to thank the players, especially those who started from the original ffxiv, and those that have joined out community. Thank you all for all of your support so far. I only hope that we have released a game that will not bring shame to square enix. from here on out there is no finishing an mmorpg. FFXIV:ARR is not a game that we made alone, but a game that we made along with all of you. From here on out we home to keep creating this game from here on out, from this place with you for 5-10 years.
I again want to say thank you for all you have done so far and we hope for your support in the future. bows

Relief. Disappointment. Elation. Frustration. Exhaustion. Respect. Humility.

You could see pretty much all the emotions of the past 30 months pouring out of him. If he channels any of that into his work, we're in for a pretty epic adventure Smiley: nod

It's all in how you present it, and often you come off as arrogant and stubborn.

I could list many complaints or suggestions or changes I would like, but presenting them in a manner that 1) suggests that your opinion isn't the absolute final word on the matter (which allows for discussion instead of arguments and flaming), and 2) is grounded in reality (instead of exaggerations), will get you far, not only in a forum but everyday interactions with people. I'm not presuming to know you or anything, but this is why many assume you are just trolling, as your posts share these qualities with trolls, though I don't agree with any of the pitchforking for your banishment that's been going on lately.

I have absolutely no idea what that man was saying when he broke down but I cried with him.

Maybe it is the alcohol, but there is something so humbling about seeing a grown man with the passion that this guy obviously has. There is also something so fantastic about seeing someone achieve something remarkable, whether its running the 100m in a personal best or world record time, or seeing a doctor save someones life, or just seeing someone deliver a video game that they have poured their heart, soul and life into for the last few years. The realisation of ones dreams should not be knocked and Yoshi-P has no apologies to make for being human.

(before the criticism arrives, I am not equating the importance of a video game with the importance of the role of a doctor in savings someones life, I am merely pointing out that commitment to our chosen pursuit and then success in that pursuit is a fantastic thing).

With how thin skinned this place is, that is a monumentally bad suggestion.

Yeah we'd this forum's trolls for breakfast there. But it'd be fun!
