Square enix tokenFollow

Is there any benefits to having a square enix token for ffxiv? I bought the token for ffxi because it got me more storage. I've since transferred my token to my iPhone app and I'm wondering if its necessary to have? I know it gives me some extra security but if that is all I'd rather take it off my account. If I lose my phone I wouldn't be able to play til I get a replacement and I just don't think it's worth the hassle. So basically is there any extra benefit from it besides security? Thanks

Just the extra security, nothing else. I agree it can be annoying/tedious using one but it is worth using to keep your account secure. In almost every MMO I've played I've gotten hacked (it happened twice in WoW!) but I finally got one for TOR and I had zero problems with my account.

It's just good to know that no one can f*** with your stuff.

It's for security only. It is really useful. Basically you will never get hacked if you have that plain simple. And really I would be more worried if I would lose my 700$ phone than rather the security token. :P

Really $700? It's a damn phone. My iPhone only cost $50 as an upgrade because of my plan Smiley: cool

Well my phone doesn't cost 700 I was just making an example. But even if you got it for 50 it still worth 500 ( give or take).

If you occasionally play from different IP addresses, you might want to have a token. If SE sees your account getting accessed from different IP addresses but you don't have one-time password security in place, they may think that's it potentially someone trying to hack your account and lock your account down.

If you lose your phone all you'd have to do is contact customer support and have it removed. It might even be something you can do on your own. I've got a link to security token in my sticky, you might check there.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

To remove a security token without the aid of customer support, you have to login to the SE account management page, which requires the one-time password if you have it set up. So if you lose your token / your token breaks or dies / your phone breaks or dies, you have to get customer support involved.

After all, if you could disassociate a security token with just a username and password, that would defeat the purpose of the security token.

I just noticed the other day that the Security Token also has an emergency password if you lose your Token/Phone or if it's stolen. I have yet to determine how you use it, but they make sure to make it abundantly clear you should have it written down somewhere in case you cannot access your account.

Is that only for the software token on smart phones? I ordered the physical token, and have no idea where to set my Emergency Password. I couldn't find it yesterday and I was searching all DAY for 15 minutes. Any help would be appreciated.

Both of my friends were hacked when Diablo III was experiencing waves of hackers, so I really don't want to take the risk of not having the token.

In fact, I've always been terribly cautious with my Final Fantasy MMO accounts. Being paranoid of keyloggers on FFXI, that was when I got into browser security with extensions like No Script and Adblock Plus.

May only be the Smart Phone token.

I noticed it yesterday when I changed from a keyfob to my smartphone app. Would make sense why I was oblivious to the Emergency password until now Smiley: lol. Unfortunate news for those using the keyfob, but a nice proactive measure for users of the smart phone app.

Also, just in case anyone was unaware and may be pretty unrelated, but if you remove a keyfob from your account it becomes a useless device as it can never be attached to another game account.

I can't give SE anything else until they give me my CE items. Please note, I am a fanboy, but I am a 1.0 account holder (non-legacy) who bought the 2.0 CE digital for the perks and items associated with it. I've received my EA code, and account registration code, but can't find a way to put in that code in mog station. (EA code redeemed) So my account remains a standard account, without CE items.

I submitted a email question to their support team 3 days ago, without response at this time. I'd like a token. I'd like to subscribe. I'd like what I paid for. I got EA, that was a perk. I want the CE items. That's what I paid for. My receipt says so.
