I won't be playing for some time. I spent 1400$ on a gaming desktop several months ago. And it just blew up on me. Went snap crackle pop with sparkies and then dead. My guess is it was just the power supply as more and more often the game was randomly shutting down my computer. Then tried to log in 2 times and instant shut down upon game load. 2nd time sparks flew. Don't have the monies to fix it right now so CRAP!

It was nice playing with ya'll I had some fun! :-)

I'm sorry for your loss. PS3 is only $200... Sounds like whoever built your PC for you didn't know what they were doing. I've heard of old school computers being able to run the game on low setting.

Should definitely check out the PSU first. A bad PSU can kill other components with it so I hope you still have your warranty.

Oh wow, that really sucks. I'm really sorry that happened. D: I hope you can get it fixed sooner rather than later, but in the meantime, take care.

Power supplies aren't that expensive, you can easily get one for $100 or less, depending on your power needs. They do fail. I had one send out this puff of smoke with a strong electrical smell, then when I took it out it was all melted inside (it looked cool!).

It was CyberPower that built my computer. I'd stay away from them.

Yeah if you haven't already I would consider a PS3, at least until you can replace the PC... you can at least enjoy the game in the meantime and progress your character. If you like it, you may even just want to stick it out and go with a PS4 when it launches.. it should have similar specs to that of a high-end PC anyways when it comes out.

If it was from a comp builder like iBuyPower the warranty may only be 90 days for the whole system. However, if he built it himself or even if he had someone else build it, the individual components will all have warranties of at least a year.

Big brand name PCs (Dell, HP, Lenovo) will almost always have at least a full year warranty.

The PS3 Is an option, I already have a PS3 Controller. But I did just spend 59$ on CE ><, Getting paid in the next few days. I may try PS3.

Just out of curiosity how are the PS3 Graphics. And does it take a Generic USB Keyboard?

I don't have a high-end PC, so I have no way to compare... but I like the graphics.

Yes you can use a USB keyboard.

Ok going with a PS3! Just to make sure there is a way to use my current account with the PS3 right? But I still need to buy the PS3 Version correct?

Graphics wise, pc always outperforms the ps3. But, it will still be just as pretty.

Oh, wow! That really sucks! A few days after Guild Wars 2 came out, my desktop blew on me, though it was a store-bought HP PC that was 3 years old. Since then, I've been stuck using my work laptop for Guild Wars 2 and Final Fantasy XIV: ARR. Sadly, this laptop runs those games far better than the desktop ever did. I'm slowly saving up to eventually buy my own components and build my own computer. I won't buy anything, though, until I've saved up all the money and am ready to do it so I can make sure I have the newest stuff I can afford. So, I sympathize with you! I sincerely wish you good luck!

While it is obvious that PS3 graphics aren't going to be PC level, they are still really, really good for PS3. I've had no complaints about the graphics or the sound. Also obviously, the PS3 won't be able to display as many assets on screen at once (FATEs for example) as a PC, but this has been no problem for me. I honestly think you'll have a fine time on it. :) I play both the PC and the PS3 versions.

Yes, you need to buy the PS3 version, but you can connect your PSN account to your existing SE service account.

CyberPower offers warranties, so I hope you got it with your PC. The PC I play FFXIV on I got from them years ago and it's still running great, though I had to remove some memory recently after a move and some issues.

I purchased a comp from CyberPower about 1.5 years ago. Directly out of the box the thing blows up. Have never smelt anything like that before in my life. Company reimbursed the cost of the PC but I still had to pay shipping and the cost to ship it back to them. In the end I was out $200 for a computer that never worked.

The PS3 graphics arent too bad. I play on a 3 year old PC, but I ordered a PS3 copy so that I could have that as a backup should something happen to the computer. It also served a dual purpose. Since I can play the PC version for free due to already buying the CE for 1.0, I got the PS3 version as a preorder for the in-game goodies and the 10.00 off Amazon coupon.

I hook up a PS3 at 720p with an HDMI cable and it looks pretty nice.

You can probably find a used/refurbished PS3 for a decent price at a resale shop, like gamestop or something similar. It will usually come with a warranty as well.

Still, we all feel your pain. Hope it all works out.

Yes, you need to buy a physical PS3 copy. But it is only 37 dollars (plus tax) and gamestop has some coupon right now going until September 15th that gives you and extra 50% on trade-ins so you could do like me and trade in 3 games and get it for free. Inside the game comes the 12 digit PSN code (on the back of the booklet) and the 20 digit registration code (on an attached leaflet) for the SE site. Follow the instructions in the packet inside the game disc and you should be able to link the PS3 version separately to your SE account. From memory, I think it wants you to go first to account management / Redeem Codes / then enter the 12 digit code. All good. Then it gives you access to download the game client. Takes a few hours. Then enter the game disc and open it up. You will be at the main login screen. Enter your SE password and user name and you should have to accept a contract agreement. It then brings you to a screen to choose what account. Do not choose a new account, go with the default exisiting account that should show up. From this point, the PS3 automatically links the PS3 version to your SE account. I did not have to enter my 20 digit code (but I had beta and early access clients already) so be prepared to enter that code if it asks.

As for the Mog Station... If you have already set up to prepay for PC service, you may want to change that.

I really hope that I don't lead you wrong, but that is the best I have at the moment. Other than that, there was a good post by ShadowEdgeFFXI about a week ago with details on the PS3 process.

Dude are you like 5 minutes from a gamestop? Anyway, I bought a refurbished slim and it has plenty of memory right out of the box. Plus that built in wireless access is NICE. Just make sure to run it on 720p with HDMI. 480p will give you a quarter of the screen. It is no good. Good luck and see you in game!
