I have been very grateful of the transparency that Yoshi has provided throughout the entire development process. HIs letters from the producer segment have been great, and the beta testing was always fun and word of mouth spread quickly about how greatly this game has improved over 1.0. I think the only real unexpected failure was the 90000 and 3102 issues that occurred during the open beta. As a result of those issues not allowing players to login, it did not allow the development team to properly gauge how great the load on the servers would be and essentially turned Early Access into the Open Beta test.

Either way, I have been one of the fortunate ones that I play on a less crowded server and have been able to login fairly regularly, with some hurdles, but am in love with the game that has been produced. Throughout the Beta and Early Access and now into the Live product, Yoshi & his team are constantly listening to the subscribers and scouring the forums and are making improvements to the game and I have been witness to many great improvements since the start. I don't expect everything to magically be corrected instantly, but I am a strong believer that with patience and the strong foundation that has already been built, FFXIV ARR will truly become a long-lasting and amazing game.

Besides, we are already being given 14-days extended playtime free which already exceeds the time lost not being able to login.

Great job Yoshi!

So here a question for the IT people of ZAM. Could they prioritize one server at a time for testing and slowly start adding them today instead of Monday or does it make more sense to just release them all next week. I personally would take them adding one server at a time but making them available sooner than just releasing a whole bunch early next week.

Not complaining. I'm glad they are fixing it just looking at options.

I'm an IT person, and I don't envy them the decisions they have to make as far as testing and such go. If the servers were purely being used as file servers, then yes, one at a time would probably be okay. Since these servers are considerably more complex than that, though, and since they want to increase the number of worlds, one at a time would probably be too slow and may not fix the problem soon enough. Who truly knows, though? It's definitely not a simple question to answer, but you sure asked a good one! Smiley: smile I wish I could answer you better; I wish I could see their actual hardware so I could do so. Man, that'd be sweet!

In reply to someone else's post (I don't remember who), increasing capacity of pre-existing servers may help short term, but I honestly think it would lead to more problems down the road. Making the current hardware handle even more is just asking for trouble.
