I know a ton of ppl have been frustrated with this game and its quest/mission system. We all have had such a difficult time adapting to this new world and its complexities. But fear not ppl, we have a solution to this confusion.

The good folks over at Brady have done what they do best and are now selling a new game guide for FFXIV:ARR. I personally am super pumped about this because I remember how much the old XI Brady guide helped on my path to stardom as an elite RNG and Fisher. To be honest,I could not have done it without them. They must have some secret 'in' over at SE to make us privy to such information.

Anyway, I was able to track down a link via amazon to pre-order your copy. Rumour has it, there may even be some in game perks if you order before pre-sales sell out. Which, obviously they will. Anyway, I have mine coming and am planning on re-rolling immediately upon its arrival cause I know the benefits from this book are going to be amazing. Good luck to everyone. And don't say I didn't give ya a heads up when everyone who buys this thing leaves you in the dust. Link is below...

I had the guide for XI, ended up using google and it was faster and more accurate most of the time. Though It was good for bathroom reading but then again i didn't have a smart phone back then. When XI came out the internet wasn't like it is now though, if you need to replace spark plugs in your car or pop that pesky zit there is a youtube video to show you how lol.

Wait, wasn't the Brady guides from XI part of the whole issue with people doing things wrong in the first place? Who can forget the Brady guide's popular Job combos that they said was a good idea... such as... WAR/WHM? Pseudo PLD that doesn't work nearly as well as they claim it did since you got your *** handed to you on "Easy Prey" bunnies and such (that sudden foot kick right after you used the last cure you could've casted was a killer).

But to be fair, the Brady guide wasn't bad for info on some quests and other things, its just that you have to take the info they print with a grain of salt. Remember what Brady guide claims NIN was for and what everyone actually found it it could become?

Excerpt from the 2004 Ninja job (pg 95 of the spring 2004 version) "Ninja as a support job: As a means of boosting Agility, Ninja do well in a supporting role. However, many of the best Ninjutsu abilities are not terribly low level. This makes it very difficult to get the best out of a Ninja. Compounded by a poor spread of Passive Abilities and no supporting Active Abilities, Ninja are a hard sell in this area." - it has the same text description in the Fall 2003 version! (pg 100).

Ok, that text from the guides doesn't sound too good, but someone did brave it out and main tanked successfully as NIN or with NIN sub, then everyone was all over the traits that NIN brought to the table! Dual weild, blink, DPS, and ninja wheel spam. Let's not rely too heavily on Brady guide on some things this time around, some parts are good, some parts... not so much.

Which guide would it be? the 2003 or the 2004 ones? I just happen to still have those around and it was fun to read the other stuff in the guide when you are not able to play. A quick check of amazon.com gives low of $1.98 and unrealistic high of $2,000?!? (someone was high on something since it listed 2 from the same seller as 'used' good & very good conditions - 2003 edition it seems).

Well, why not get some money if you think someone will buy them? At worst, it'll be like $2, if some sucker will shell out 2k for it... cha-ching!!

Going to tell the truth now: I bought the guide for FFXI, quickly learned that all Job info, other then how to unlock the job, was almost useless.
However the FFXI guide was great for some of the quest/mission info.
As the years went by, I ended up using it more for the crafting tables (due to not being able to be online, and on a PC at the same time).

I looked for a guide the other day for XIV, so if there is one out, and it has decent info, I'll drop the few bucks.
gives you something to read while on the WC :p

I admit I liked it for the early quests but mostly for the crafting tables. Then again I was never much into the battles if avoidable.

During downtime with my static I found the XI Brady a decent source for checking quests off my bucket list. Having been a PS2 player it was easier than having to walk over to the PC.

Back in the day when ffxi was released i loved the bray guide!

As the game changed the guide became less important. However it was really awesome.. i may buy the ffxiv guide just for the support.

LOL, I remember that section LolGaxe! How long was it since the game started that everyone was going LOLWar until it WAR actually became less of a LOL class and accepted then sought after main?

I never buy strat guides for mmos. For one they become outdated very quickly, and second it takes the fun of discovery out of the game which leads to fatigue of the game and then quitting.
