Latency: Can't tell if it's me or the Server Follow

Hi All,

Probably a very silly question, but I've notice some fairly significant latency while playing and I am willing to guess that it is related to all the current server issues. However, it might not be so I'm trying to figure out what others are seeing in game.

While playing on Excalibur I am seeing Sending rates between 30-400 depending on what is happening and this seems to be manageable, but am getting receiving rates that hover well above 1500 and seen it get to 15000 or so during FATEs and other activities (which may just be a function of the influx of players).

If others would be willing to share what they are seeing it would be really helpful to me. I am playing on the East Coast and just wondering if I should maybe look at a different server.

Thanks!

I have messed around with characters on a varity of servers, NA and JP, and have had zero issues. The game has been running almost surprisingly smooth. It plays for me just as well as if it were offline.

So far the only real issue is actually getting on the server in the first place. You may want to check your ISP connection to see how well it's running. I haven't tried your server, but I would imagine they are all basically the same since they all are pretty much full with the same player capacity.

Do you by chance have a mental note of the Sending and Receiving rates you're seeing on average? Just would like to compare.

I play on excalibur as well, but have had 0 lag or latency issues.

Thanks for the input, maybe I'll have to throw some thing in my router settings or a brick at my ISP to get this resolved Smiley: bah

Here's what I do, Run -> cmd then type "ping www.google.com -t"

This will ping Google indefinitely, you should get ping replies of around 20-70ms depending on your connection, if that's constantly stable the issue isn't you, it'll have to either be a network node between you and the server or the server itself.

I'm at work currently but got the server addy's to ping when I get home. At work which is about 15 mins away the ping seems stable around 40-50 ms - which isn't the kind of response time that I could equate to the experience I'm seeing in game. I don't believe I have any ports forwarded or anything of that nature currently on my router that would be causing any issues. I'm more at a loss than anything and trying to hammer out the issue.

Would like to say I appreciate everyone's input on the matter here on the boards. If anyone else has similar issues or has found solutions, please do share!

Ya, of course your ping to the server is higher, but it's more about the stability.
