I don't make it a normal practice to reply to my own posts, but I think this picture justifies it.

Got the same thing when I put in "kirito."

Stupid humanity!

Technically I could fall into the 'not creative' category. But at least I went with 'State Alchemist,' a bit more generic. and to be fair I did actually begin this game as an Alchemist back in Sept. 2010.

At least you didn't use 'something Elric'. State Alchemist is at least somewhat imaginative and best of all, it has at least something to do with your (original 1.0) character's initial profession. That's far, far more than could be said for a lot of the names.

The cool thing is in some of the storyline, when they used my name it made it sound like they were actually addressing me as a titled individual, which made the flavor that much more enjoyable. xD Small things...small things...

There was an imgur gallery somewhere where someone posted screenshots of quest text and they had made their first name "lol". Was rather humorous.

Too great.

Also I couldn't think of a last name for my normal 'one-name' character: 'Tristaen.' Which btw, I adopted as an adaptation of 'Tristam' from Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest (SNES).

That was the coolest game! It has been sooo long, I was a little kid when I last played it. I love how the monsters would get all cracked and bruised when you got their life low. And Tristam was awesome with his ninja stars. Great game.

There is literally a William Wallace on every server (complete with the purple half face paint)

It's understandable in a FF game, not cool or imaginative tho, especially when it's mangled with Really Bad Spelling. What I cringed at were the hundreds of Clouds and Sephiroths (and all the misspellings there) in WoW. I mean come on...really? WoW?

They could make a sephiroth server and just force everyone on that list onto it and everyone can high five eachother over they totally awesome and cool names.

I actually despise people who not only take reference names like that in mmorpgs...but even more so the people who couldn't make the name since it was taken and did something stupid like add an M in front or x's after or whatever.

It like Halloween last year and going to the bar and seeing a sea of gangam style guys....like WTF are people this lame?

Anyway, I don't mind non RP names if they are creative and non potty humor funny. Its just not cool when your one of many guys running around with a variant of some popular media in your name. Like the billions of Lannisters or other game of throne referenced names out there.

It says "No Sephiroths." We're allowed to have one.

I've seen way more Game of Thrones references. I was outside Tam Tara and seen at least 8 people in 5 minutes with some form or another of a Game of Thrones reference. Its one thing to see a few, its another when 1/2 the server can be original.

Heck, there are only 49 John Snow's....

I might not have been able to get a character on a server yet, but I did notice that 'Stark' was being randomly generated as a surname for male highlander hyurs if you click the random name generation thing when you've created your character. I don't know if it suggests it for other races but thought that it was amusing.

One that really bugs me is Lionheart , and like some of the others mentioned here it reaches max displayable results.

My Dynamis linkshell was named NoSephiroth.

I picked "Lyonheart" as my name in FFXI when it launched on PS2 and had no problem getting the name first try (no spelling changes necessary). If I had known just how popular variants of that name was going to be, I probably would have picked something else (like maybe Flawless Waffle). But since I've been "Lyonheart" for almost 10 years, I can't bring myself to changing my name.

But I do feel weird having it as my first name, and seeing a bunch of people using a variant as their last name.

On my server there is a guy named Cloudd Strife and his character was built to look exactly like him. It is about as unoriginal as one can get. What is even funnier is watching him get laughed at and shot down for group requests in shout for being an unoriginal d-bag. I don't think that is the reaction he was expecting.

This works with pretty much any combo. I'm personally loving the "squallcloud sephiroth" combo.

It's just a reflection of the lack of intelligence creativity of the average human being. It almost brings out the bully in me, but I don't want to waste my energy on hating people.

Leonhart was Squall's last name. I really don't see much of an issue with the name Lionheart. It would go well with my first name. Lucia Lionheart was actually my name in 1.0 beta, and it had absolutely nothing to do with Final Fantasy or ripping off of other games/animes. There I go defending myself Smiley: rolleyes
